The Blue Jays announced they are returning left-handed pitcher Ricky Tiedemann and infielder Sean Keys to their Major League roster among five moves on Tuesday -- the day active rosters expanded to 28 players.
In addition to Tiedemann and Keys’ recalls, Toronto also reinstated left-handed pitcher Joe Mantiply from the 60-day injured list (left knee inflammation) and infielder Josh Smith from the 10-day IL (left hamstring inflammation). Both will be active for Tuesday’s series opener against the Guardians.
In a corresponding move, the Blue Jays designated outfielder Daz Cameron for assignment. The club also announced that right-handed pitcher Simeon Woods Richardson cleared outright waivers and elected free agency.
Tiedemann, currently the club’s No. 11 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, will make his second Major League appearance whenever he toes the rubber. Formerly the organization’s top overall prospect before a lengthy injury recovery, Tiedemann debuted on Aug. 15 and threw 1 2/3 innings against the Yankees, allowing one run while striking out two. The 24-year-old has posted a 3.75 ERA in 11 Minor League appearances this season.
Keys will similarly make his second trip to the Majors after a 12-game cup of coffee in June and July. The club’s No. 6 prospect, he leads Blue Jays Minor Leaguers with 28 home runs in 100 games. Keys, 23, hit one dinger and went 5-for-36 (.167) to start his big league career.

Acquired from the Rangers at the Trade Deadline, Smith played just 14 games for Toronto before going down with a hamstring injury. He was slashing .250/.323/.464 post-trade in a utility role.
Finally, Mantiply appeared in 17 games to begin the season, pitching to a 2.04 ERA before injury.
