Veen's 3-double day extends huge hitting streak at Triple-A

Zac Veen, the Rockies’ first-rounder back in 2020, has hit his stride in Triple-A.

Veen (COL No. 13) extended his hitting streak to 23 games on Tuesday, turning in a three-double performance for Albuquerque in an 11-3 win over Salt Lake at The Ballpark at America First Square. Veen additionally has 12 multi-hit games amid this streak.

Veen went to the opposite field in the first inning, finding the left-field corner for a run-scoring extra-base hit. He then led off the third inning with his hardest-hit ball of the day, shooting a 105.8 mph liner to the gap in right-center field. Sterlin Thompson drove Veen in with a single.

Serving as the DH on Tuesday, Veen hit his final double in the seventh inning. He dipped well below the zone and rocketed a 99.4 mph liner off the right-field wall, narrowly missing a home run. It resulted in Veen’s second and final RBI of the game.

Veen rounded out his day with a fourth-inning walk, coming around to score on a Charlie Condon triple.

Now 24 years old, Veen’s hitting streak dates back to May 27, and he leads the Minor Leagues with 83 total bases in the span. Additionally, the outfielder has posted a .433/.451/.856 slash line in that time.

Veen’s first stint in the Major Leagues in 2025 -- albeit just a 12-game sample -- was a struggle. He hit .118 with 14 strikeouts and just two walks. But with a .999 OPS and 11 homers thus far for Albuquerque, Veen appears to be fighting his way toward a return to the big leagues.
