Hitting tanks and stealing bases- that’s been Carson Roccaforte's bread and butter in 2026.
And after swiping his 30th bag of the season in Triple-A Omaha’s 6-5 loss to Indianapolis on Sunday at Victory Field, the Royals' No. 17 prospect became the first Minor Leaguer to join the 30-30 club this season, and the first to accomplish the feat since 2023.
After swatting 18 homers a season ago, Roccaforte has continued to flash his above-average power in 2026. The left-handed hitting outfielder totaled 35 dingers and 65 extra-base hits this season to rank first and second, respectively, among all hitters in the Royals farm system. His .868 OPS and .527 slugging percentage are also top 10 marks among Royals prospects.
The 24-year-old’s pop has especially come to life over the past seven weeks, as Roccaforte has mashed 16 of his 35 long balls this season over his past 41 games played. That total ranks fifth among all Minor Leaguers in that span. This season's power surge also included a remarkable stretch from July 26 to August 11, in which he tallied 10 dingers and drove in 20 runs during a 13-game stretch for Double-A Northwest Arkansas.
When Roccaforte isn’t slugging homers, he’s wreaked havoc on the base paths, as evidenced by his 30 stolen bases this season. Since arriving at Triple-A Omaha, he’s a perfect 9-for-9 on stolen base attempts. The 66th overall selection in the 2023 Draft carried over his success on the bath paths from last season when he logged a career-high 43 swipes and posted a solid 78 percent stolen-base rate in 127 games between two Minor League levels. During his tenure in the Kansas City system, his 123 stolen bases rank second among all Royals prospects.
COMPLETE ROYALS PROSPECT COVERAGE
In addition to his eye-catching offensive tools, Roccaforte is one of the better defenders in all of the Minor Leagues, winning the Royals organization’s Defensive Player of the Year Award in back-to-back seasons in 2024 and '25. With a 60-grade defense and a 55-grade arm, Roccaforte is a natural center fielder who takes efficient routes on the grass. This season between two Minor League levels, he tallied 13 outfield assists. That includes helping generate three double plays with Double-A Northwest Arkansas.
The last Minor Leaguers to accomplish a 30-30 season were Weston Wilson and Trey Cabbage in 2023. Since 1946, there have been 28 such campaigns in the Minors. Before Roccaforte, a Royals prospect had not previously secured the feat, though Bobby Witt Jr. briefly had 30 homers, 30 stolen bases and 30 doubles in 2021, but the game in which he stole his 30th base was canceled and the stats were wiped.
