Sam Kulasingam has carved out a niche this season at Double-A Northwest Arkansas as a disciplined contact hitter.
The Royals prospect has strung together 28 multihit games and ranks 12th in the Texas League in on-base percentage (.376). Then he took things to a new level on Sunday.
Kulasingam delivered a career game -- at least twice his previous highs, in fact -- as he socked six hits (including two homers) and drove in eight runs in the Naturals' 24-4 win over Arkansas on Sunday at Dickey-Stephens Park.

Sunday's performance marked his first multihomer game as a pro and his first pro game with more than three hits or three RBIs. Even dating back to college, Kulasingam's best single-game mark at Air Force was five hits as a sophomore.
The 2024 13th-rounder picked up a pair of singles to the opposite field off right-hander Jason Ruffcorn (Mariners) in the first and second innings before Northwest Arkansas got to the Travelers' bullpen.

The switch-hitter began tapping into his power in his third trip to the plate when he crushed a homer to right field on the first offering by right-hander Ty Cummings (Mariners) in the third. The reliever struck out Kulasingam the next time up, but then the right fielder took righty Adam Smith deep to almost the same spot in right in the sixth.
Kulasingam concluded his night with two more singles, one laced to left off righty Tyler Cleveland and the other driven to right when starting shortstop Josh Hood came on to pitch in the ninth.
The North Carolina native has made a habit of finding the barrel this season -- with a 79.2 percent contact rate and 86.6 percent in-zone contact rate -- and delivered more of the same on Sunday with just two whiffs on 12 swings. And when the quality of contact is this good, it's a recipe for a night to remember.
