Sebastian Walcott hasn’t shown many signs of rust this season since returning from internal brace surgery in July. His latest hot streak also continues to prove why he’s MLB Pipeline’s No. 9 prospect overall.
Walcott, the Rangers’ top prospect, went deep for the third consecutive game on Tuesday, his seventh home run in 30 games this season. He was 2-for-4 overall with a walk, though Double-A Frisco fell, 9-5, to Amarillo at Riders Field.
Walcott homered in the bottom of the ninth inning, crushing an 0-1 breaking ball way up the berm in left-center field. His other hit was a third-inning single, and he scored on a Dylan Dreiling dinger in the next at-bat.

Walcott has been resigned to designated hitter duties as his right elbow still ramps up to full health, but the 20-year-old infielder has had no issues with his swing. His three–peat of home runs came amid a seven-game hitting streak in which he’s had multiple hits four times. He’s also doubled three times and driven in five runs.
Walcott, an infielder with an elite arm but questions about his defensive consistency, has a bat that will play no matter where he ends up. He’s up to a 1.009 OPS in a small sample this season.
