Walker Jenkins, the Twins’ No. 1 prospect and No. 11 in MLB Pipeline’s Top 100, was removed from Triple-A St. Paul’s game on Sunday due to an apparent injury.
With two outs in the sixth inning, Iowa’s Jonathon Long hit a deep drive to right center field. Jenkins, playing center, chased the ball down and made the catch but hit the wall hard and fell to the ground. He reached for his left shoulder after getting up, and was immediately removed from the game.
Jenkins, 21, has been heating up recently after a slow start in his first full season at Triple-A. He joins fellow top 100 prospect Emmanuel Rodriguez on the shelf for the Saints. Rodriguez suffered a muscle strain in his left thumb on Friday night, though the hope is that his injury is relatively minor.
