Diamond of Dreams
Presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City
The health and safety of our community is of utmost importance to the Kansas City Royals and Royals Charities. After careful consideration and recommendation from our partners, health advisors, and the CDC, Royals Charities will not be hosting Diamond of Dreams presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City. Having spent the past year preparing for Diamond of Dreams with our sponsors, entertainers, food vendors, and event partners, we are disappointed not to be able to host Diamond of Dreams in 2020. We look forward to its return in 2021.
Royals Charities supported the effort to bring a Fisher House to Kansas City once again in 2020, this time through an online silent auction in late July.
As the beneficiary for the past three years, Diamond of Dreams has helped in the effort to open the Kansas City Fisher House which will break ground in August 2020. This program provides a "home away from home" for families of patients receiving medical care at major military and VA medical centers. The homes provide temporary free lodging so families can be close to their loved ones during a medical crisis. Learn More »
Each year, an iconic element of Diamond of Dreams presented by Blue KC is the varied and often times unique silent auction packages. The 2020 auction is now closed.

Fisher House Foundation is best known for its network of 88 comfort homes where military and veterans' families can stay at no cost while a loved one is receiving treatment. These homes are located at major military and VA medical centers nationwide, and in Europe, close to the medical center or hospital it serves. Fisher Houses have up to 21 suites, with private bedrooms and baths. Families share a common kitchen, laundry facilities, a warm dining room and an inviting living room. Fisher House Foundation ensures that there is never a lodging fee. Since inception, the program has saved military and veterans' families an estimated $500 million in out of pocket costs for lodging and transportation.
Fisher House Foundation also operates the Hero Miles Program, using donated frequent flyer miles to bring family members to the bedside of injured service members as well as the Hotels for Heroes program using donated hotel points to allow family members to stay at hotels near medical centers without charge. The Foundation also manages a grant program that supports other military charities and scholarship funds for military children, spouses and children of fallen and disabled veterans.
Through Diamond of Dreams in 2018 & 2019, Royals Charities has raised over $600,000 to support the building of the Kansas City Fisher House. In 2020, Royals Charities are hosting an online silent auction to benefit the Fisher House to support the year they break ground.
