Royals Charities will provide financial support to help improve baseball and/or softball facilities throughout the Midwest region. Royals Charities will match grants to help non-profit organizations and local government units that operate baseball and/or softball programs. The Royalty Fields program is also supported by Price Chopper. At this time we are extending our April 1st grant deadline to June 15th.
Matching Grant Size/Purpose
Matching grants are available for major renovations of baseball and/or softball fields used primarily for youth.
Major renovations will include the upgrading of essential baseball field components including:
- New sod
Items that do not qualify are:
- Routine maintenance
The program is open to any independent Midwest, 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization or local government unit that operates a youth baseball and/or softball program in Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Oklahoma, Arkansas or South Dakota. The average matching grant awarded is $5,000 to $10,000. Organizations must prove that they have secured funding (monetary and/or in-kind support) in order to receive matching funds. Organizations that have not secured funding may apply for a matching funds grant but should expect to receive a Royalty Fields grant award only in the amount that has been raised by the applicant organization (if the application is approved by the Royals Charities Board of Directors.)
Qualifying organizations must submit an application and required documents to the Royals Charities Board of Directors. Applications will be accepted and reviewed throughout the year. Grant approval will be determined by the Board of Directors.
If you submitted a grant application by October 1, 2020, you can expect to be notified on the status of your grant no later than December 13, 2020.
Please submit your grant application by June 15th at 5:00 p.m. CT. Grant recipients for that cycle will be notified no later than Friday, July 15, 2020.
Applications must be emailed to [email protected] by the deadlines posted above for consideration. Once the application is received and reviewed, Royals Charities may call to schedule a site visit. In addition, Royals Charities may schedule a follow-up site visit once funding has been awarded and a project is completed. Please note that if an application is not received by the deadlines listed above, it will only be reviewed if funding is available after timely requests have been considered, and the organization might be asked to resubmit during the next grant cycle.
Grant recipients will prominently display provided signage recognizing program supporters and seek local media coverage for grant dedication ceremony.
