About the 2026 Finalists

Cubs Jr. All-Stars

Cubs Jr. All-Stars (CJAS) introduces baseball/softball to children in kindergarten through third grade, using a combination of high-quality skill instruction and an intentional focus on social and emotional skills. Our purpose is to create positive, welcoming baseball and softball experiences that make kids want to keep playing. Goals of the program include building social and emotional skills, teaching core baseball and softball skills, and equipping community partners with the tools they need to deliver the program themselves.

Girls Belong in Baseball

At a time when adolescent girls are experiencing unprecedented mental health challenges and dropping out of sports at twice the rate of their male peers, the Twins are cultivating more positive and safe environments for girls on ballfields. Girls across the country play baseball, but most girls play as the only girl on a team of boys, and as girls get older, many are pressured to switch to softball or quit playing the game altogether. Driven by the belief that every young person deserves opportunities and support to play the games they love, the Twins Community Fund has spent the past decade building year-round programs -- including the first girls' baseball national teams fielded by an MLB Club -- that nurture girls' love of baseball while building infrastructure so they have opportunities to keep playing. The Twins Community Fund’s innovative and industry-leading girls baseball programming, partnerships and advocacy are changing the game for girls across Twins Territory and beyond.

Chill Mobile

In 2022, Pirates Charities partnered with Allegheny Health Network (AHN) to launch Chill Mobile, an innovative and mobile mental health unit created to address the growing youth mental health crisis throughout Western Pennsylvania. Built from a retrofitted RV and designed as a welcoming, immersive space, Chill Mobile has offered evidence-based behavioral health programming directly to students, educators and communities that may otherwise have limited access to these resources. Since its launch, the program has impacted more than 44,200 students, expanding access to critical mental health education and support across the region. The program was developed around three core goals: reducing mental health stigma; expanding the reach of AHN’s successful school-based Chill Project model; and transforming the delivery of preventative behavioral health services across the region.

Rays Science of Baseball

The Rays are well known for innovative strategy and impactful analytics. The Rays Science of Baseball program embraces what makes the Rays successful and brings that expertise into the classroom. Through the Rays Science of Baseball program presented by Mosaic, Tampa Bay Rays Baseball Operations, Performance Science and Graphic Design staff share their knowledge, expertise and experience with students at community-partner schools serving underrepresented communities, engaging them through hands-on examples of the principles of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM).

Expanding Access to Healthy Food in D.C.

Over 16 seasons, HOPE Week has brought players, coaches and front-office employees into the community for an annual, weeklong celebration of inspiring individuals and community organizations. Yankees players not only surprise honorees with a specially-planned event in their neighborhood, but they bring local and national media with them, providing critical exposure to help honorees grow their impactful efforts. HOPE Weeks are also held by each of the Yankees' Minor League affiliates, and nearly 500 total HOPE Week events have been held over the years in New York and in Yankees-affiliate cities. The initiative has inspired other sports teams, schools and businesses to embark on similar endeavors, and along the way the Yankees have contributed more than $1 million to fund the honorees' missions.
