DENVER -- Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said no decision has been made on Clayton Kershaw's next assignment after Tuesday's simulated game, but he did reveal the first set of Sept. 1 callups.
Roberts said relievers Luis Avilán, Louis Coleman and Josh Ravin and catcher Austin Barnes would be in the first group. Roberts also said Avilan would be activated as the 26th man for Wednesday night's doubleheader second game.
As for outfielder Yasiel Puig, Roberts said his recall "is still a possibility. We're trying to figure out what's best for Yasiel and what's best for us."
Roberts said Pedro Báez, optioned to Double-A Tuesday, would be recalled next week. Casey Fien was called up to replace Baez in the bullpen.
"With Pedro, the usage is considerably more than he's had in his career," Roberts said. "This is an opportunity for him to reset. We haven't seen the last few weeks Pedro being who he is supposed to be. Casey is a fresh arm, so it makes more sense. Pedro will be back."
Baez has pitched 62 1/3 innings and allowed 11 home runs, both career highs.
