What’s Happening This Week at Citizens Bank Park: Phillies vs. Astros, September 8–10
Come cheer on the Phillies as they close out the homestand with a three-game series against the Houston Astros. Here’s a look at the fan highlights:
1. The series begins on Tuesday, September 8, at 6:40 p.m. Before the game, Phillies Wall of Famer Juan Samuel will present Brandon Marsh and Luis Arraez, San Francisco's nominee from his time earlier this season with the Giants, with the MLB Heart & Hustle Award.
Gate openings: 3B/LF 4:40 p.m.; all other gates 5:10 p.m.
- The Starting Line lead singer Ken Vasoli will throw a ceremonial first pitch.
- Garrett Kane, son of ironworker Matthew Kane, who tragically passed away in a Grays Ferry parking garage collapse earlier this year, will throw a ceremonial pitch on behalf of Independence Blue Cross.
- Before the game, the Phillies will host a Strike Out the Stigma Session presented by Park Avenue Worldwide, with the topic of “Culture in Sports.”
- Enjoy complimentary face painting until the 3rd inning at The Yard and the King Swings Playground.
- Visit St. Pete-Clearwater will be at Citizens Bank Way with giveaways and destination travel information.
2. On Wednesday, September 9, the Phillies and Toyota will team up to host First Responders Night before the 6:40 p.m. game. Fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 6:15 p.m. for a special pregame ceremony honoring local heroes.
Gate openings: 3B/LF 4:40 p.m.; all other gates 5:10 p.m.
- Before the game, members of local police and fire departments will present the 50 state flags, accompanied by the Delaware State Police Honor Guard. Captain Jonathan Packard will perform the national anthem, as well as “God Bless America” during the 7th inning stretch. Following the anthem, fans will be asked to take part in a moment of silence in recognition of those who lost their lives 25 years ago on 9/11.
- Families Behind the Badge Children’s Foundation President Bob White and Executive Director Mark O’Connor will be presented with a $5,000 donation on behalf of Toyota by Bob McCormick, Secretary of the Toyota Tri-State Dealers Association, and Jackie Cuddeback, Phillies Chief Revenue Officer.
- Danielle Deck, whose husband Wissahickon Fire Company Deputy Chief Jonathan Deck lost his battle to cancer 11 months ago, will throw a ceremonial first pitch on behalf of Toyota. Earlier this summer, Danielle participated in the 65-mile Ben to the Shore Bike Tour, raising a record-setting $37,050.
- At the end of the 3rd inning, Temple University Police Officer Dolores Bowers, a former Phillies Ballgirl and member of the U.S. Marine Corps, will be honored as that night’s Toyota Hometown Hero.
- Look out for Toyota vehicles on display at each entrance gate.
- Limited tickets remain for Phillies College Series Baseball Analytics Night presented by Temple University Fox School of Business, hosted before the game in the Media Room at Citizens Bank Park. 3. Fans 55 and over are invited on field after the 1:05 p.m. series conclusion on Thursday, September 10, for Independence Blue Cross Senior Stroll the Bases
Gate openings: 3B/LF 11:05 a.m.; all other gates 11:35 a.m.
- Before the game, Philadelphia Flyers rookie forward Porter Martone will throw a ceremonial first pitch.
- Sample GHOST® Energy drinks before the game inside the Left Field Plaza, and postgame while exiting the Left Field Gate.
- Gotta have a Wawa! Score giveaways and win coupons courtesy of Wawa inside the Third Base Plaza, while supplies last.
- At the end of the 3rd inning, Philadelphia judge and former State Senator John Sabatina will be honored as that night’s Toyota Hometown Hero.
4. For this series only, Capozzoli Catering from Folsom, Pa., will be offering its Meatball Sandwich at Coca-Cola Corner.
- The signature sandwich features homemade pork & beef Italian meatballs, slow-simmered in a rich marina sauce, piled high on a seeded roll with Cooper Sharp cheese and grated pecorino romano cheese.
