He and his wife, Darci, have one son...Graduated from Tecumseh (Ohio) High School where he earned three varsity letters in baseball. He threw a no-hitter as a junior...Elected to the Clark County (Ohio) Baseball Hall of Fame this past offseason...His father, Frank, pitched in the Minors in the Yankees farm system in 1989 and 1990 and reached as high as High-A Fort Lauderdale. Frank's first name is Jonathan as well with Franklin being his middle name...His favorite off-field hobbies are hunting and golfing...Growing up his favorite player was Jim Thome.

2025

Returned to MLB after missing all of 2023 and most of 2024 recovering from Tommy John surgery...Selected from Triple-A Sacramento on Sept. 1 and made first app. with SF on Sept. 3 at COL...made five appearances (one start) with SF, posting a 4.26 ERA (6 ER, 12.2 IP) with 12 strikeouts and a 1.26 WHIP...Started on Sept. 24 vs. STL...marked his first MLB start since Oct. 4, 2022 vs. STL (with PIT)...allowed two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out four over four innings...Began the season with the Yankees organization and started the year on the IL with left rib fractures...made six rehab starts and then appeared in 12 games with NYY (3.38 ERA, 6 ER, 16 IP) before being Designated for assignment on Aug. 5...signed a minor league contract w/SF Aug. 13...Went 1-0 with a 1.64 ERA (2 ER, 11 IP) in three games/two starts with Triple-A Sacramento...Did not allow a home run in 28.2 innings between NYY and SF...hasn’t allowed a home run in his last 31.1 MLB innings dating to Oct. 4, 2022.

2024

Spent the entire season on the 60-day injured list…combined to make eight rehab appearances (five starts) with Single-A Tampa, the FCL Yankees, Double-A Somerset and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, posting a 2.70 ERA (16.2IP, 8H, 5R/ER, 8BB, 9K, 2HR)...Was placed on the 60-day injured list on 2/19 recovering from “Tommy John” surgery...Was acquired by the Yankees along with international signing bonus money from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for a player to be named later (INF Keiner Delgado) on 3/29.

2023

Missed the entire season after undergoing "Tommy John" surgery on 4/12...Was placed on the 15-day Injured List, retroactive to 3/27, on 3/30 and was transferred to the 60-day IL on 4/2...Prior to the injury, he accumulated 26 strikeouts against just three walks in 17.1 innings over five Grapefruit League starts.

2022

Led the team in strikeouts while ranking second in starts...Was the Opening Day starter on 4/7 at St. Louis; gave up four runs in three innings and suffered the loss...Struck out a career-high 10 batters on 5/17 at Chicago (NL)...Threw a career-high 106 pitches in 90-degree heat on 6/14 at St. Louis (game one)...Tossed six innings and picked up his first win on 6/20 vs. the Cubs (the win snapped a personal seven-game losing streak and was his first since 8/24/21)...Pitched seven scoreless innings and struck out nine batters but had a no-decision in his final start before the break on 7/13 at Miami...Gave up just two hits in seven scoreless innings while winning his third decision on 8/18 vs. Boston...Was placed on paternity list on 8/28; his wife, Darci, gave birth to baby boy Jett on 8/28...Was reinstated from the paternity list on 8/31...
