George Lombard Jr. hasn’t skipped a beat since returning from the IL on July 17.
MLB’s No. 20 prospect recorded his fourth career game with at least four hits, going 4-for-5 with a triple, double and three RBIs in Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's 13-3 win over Iowa on Sunday at Principal Park. The 21-year-old sports a 1.081 OPS over his past 14 games.
Lombard's afternoon started off with a strikeout and a sacrifice fly.
In the fourth, the Yankees' No. 1 prospect logged his first knock of the day by peppering a 1-1 sweeper from right-hander Vince Reilly (Cubs) into right field for a triple. In the fifth, he won a six-pitch battle with right-hander Corbin Martin by lining a 3-2 breaking ball into center for a single.

Lombard continued to feast against Iowa pitching in the sixth. MLB’s No. 9 shortstop prospect flashed his 55-grade power as he turned on a 1-0 sweeper from righty Collin Snider and rattled it off the wall in left-center for a two-run double. This season, between two Minor League levels, Lombard's 24 two-baggers rank first in the New York system.
To cap his big afternoon at the dish, the 2023 first-round pick jumped on a first-pitch fastball from left-hander Luis Peralta, lacing it into center. In 2026, Lombard has been excellent against southpaws, posting a 1.174 OPS against lefties.
