In 2019, the Cincinnati Reds will be celebrating the 150th anniversary of Baseball's First Professional Team with a series of events, activities and promotions.

The 1869 Red Stockings were the first openly all-salaried professional team in baseball history, transforming baseball from a social-club pastime to a professional game. The Red Stockings created a lasting legacy that has carried through generations of Reds fans over the years.

The 1869 Red Stockings began their season on May 4, with a 45-9 victory over the Great Westerns of Cincinnati. The Reds will honor the 150th anniversary of that first outing on Saturday, May 4, 2019, when they take on the San Francisco Giants.

  • Dedication of the 1869 Pavilion as a tribute to the Red Stockings near the Reds Hall of Fame
  • Commemorative Mr. Redlegs Bobblehead in an 1869 uniform to the first 20,000 fans
  • First of 15 throwback uniforms to be worn by Reds players and coaches
