Red Sox reinstate right-handed pitcher Brayan Bello from 15-Day injured list

Club Options Right-Handed Pitcher Josh Winckowski to Triple-A Worcester

BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today reinstated right-handed pitcher Brayan Bello from the 15-Day Injured List. To make room, the club optioned right-handed pitcher Josh Winckowski to Triple-A Worcester following yesterday’s game against the Washington Nationals.

Bello, 24, was placed on the Injured List with right lat tightness on April 24, retroactive to April 21. The right-hander made one rehab start with Double-A Portland on Tuesday against Binghamton, tossing 2.2 innings. Originally signed by Boston as an international free agent in July 2017, the Dominican Republic native is 3-1 with a 3.04 ERA (9 ER/26.2 IP) and 26 strikeouts in five starts this season, including 6.0 scoreless innings with seven strikeouts and one hit allowed in his last start on April 19 against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Winckowski, 25, owns a 3.33 ERA (9 ER/24.1 IP) in 12 games, including a 1.69 ERA (2 ER/10.2 IP) in three starts. The right-hander last pitched on Wednesday against the Atlanta Braves, tossing a scoreless inning in relief. Originally selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 15th round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft, the Ohio native has posted a 4.12 ERA (82 ER/179.0 IP) in 87 career games (18 starts) with the Red Sox (2022-24).
