Snow covers Coors, inspiring impromptu snowman

Stop us if you’ve heard this before: Coors Field is covered in snow.

The Rockies and Dodgers are set to begin a four-game series in Denver on Friday night, but Mother Nature isn't making it easy.

On Friday afternoon, snow blanketed the ballpark and created a winter wonderland that made for a stark contrast with the L.A. sunshine. Some of the Dodgers players were seen enjoying the wintry conditions. Pitcher Emmet Sheehan -- wearing shorts, nonetheless -- did his part to move some snow, repurposing a few handfuls to create a snowman.

Here’s the good news: The weather forecast calls for the snow to stop well before first pitch, and the Rockies are using a plow to remove snow from the outfield grass. The grounds crew wisely placed the tarp over the infield, meaning that none of the snow actually got onto the dirt.

Perhaps the two teams can chip in, too. It's happened before: In 2014, then-Mets general manager Sandy Alderson and Rockies owner Dick Monfort were among those who grabbed shovels to help clear 10 inches of snow off the field.
