Here are the best performances by players on team Top 30 Prospects lists from across the Minor Leagues on Monday:
Ronny Henriquez, RHP, Rangers No. 19
Henriquez put together a quality start, but it wasn’t enough as Class A Hickory fell, 6-4, to Lexington in Game 1 of the South Atlantic League Championship Series. Henriquez, who pitched to a 4.50 ERA over 82 innings during the regular season, threw 52 of his 74 pitches for strikes and gave up two runs over six innings. The right-hander, whom the Rangers signed in 2017, also struck out seven and issued just one walk. John Rave, OF, Royals No. 22
Rave helped lead Class A Lexington to a win in Game 1 of the South Atlantic League Championship Series. Rave, a fifth-round pick from this year’s Draft, finished 1-for-4 and drove in a pair of runs in the 6-4 win over Hickory. The Illinois State product hit .234 over 61 games after the Draft. Lexington will look to steal Game 2 on the road Tuesday before the best-of-five series moves to Lexington for the final three games. Royals prospect stats »
Gilberto Jimenez, OF; Noah Song, RHP Red Sox No. 7 and 15
After dropping Game 1 of the New York-Penn League finals, Class A Short-Season Lowell bounced back to defeat Brooklyn, 3-1, and force a winner-take-all Game 3. The Spinners jumped out to a three-run lead in the second inning, thanks to a two-run single by Red Sox No. 7 prospect Gilberto Jimenez. The 19-year-old switch-hitter finished the game 1-for-5 from the leadoff spot, following a 2-for-11 showing for Lowell in the NYPL semifinals. He led the circuit in batting (.359) during the regular season, while totaling 17 extra-base hits and 14 steals in 59 games.
Song, Boston’s fourth-round pick from this year’s Draft, started for Lowell and delivered three innings of one-run ball. The Navy product threw 33 of 45 pitches for strikes, mixing four hits with one walk and three strikeouts in the outing. Chris Murphy, a 2019 sixth-round pick, was dominant in relief of Song, striking out six over four scoreless innings in which he allowed two hits and one walk. Red Sox prospect stats »
Kameron Misner, OF; Will Banfield, C, Marlins No. 10 and 20
Banfield started the scoring with an RBI single in the first inning and finished 2-for-5 as Class A Clinton defeated Cedar Rapids, 6-2, to advance to the Midwest League finals. Banfield’s single plated Misner, who failed to collect a hit, going 0-for-3, but scored a team-high three runs.
Clinton will now square off with South Bend in the MWL finals, with Game 1 of the series slated for Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. ET in South Bend. Marlins prospect stats »
Wander Javier, SS, Twins No. 7
Javier went 3-for-5, but it wasn’t enough as Class A Cedar Rapids fell, 6-2, to Clinton in Game 3 of the Midwest League semifinals. The loss eliminates Cedar Rapids as Clinton will take on South Bend for the title. Javier, 20, struggled in his first year of full-season ball, hitting just .177 over 80 games, but he went 7-for-24 (.292/.320/.542) with four extra-base hits and two multihit performances in six playoff games.
