Full name is Robert John Zastryzny (zah-STRIZ-nee)…was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, before moving to Corpus Christi, Tex.

2024

Made nine appearances (three starts) with Milwaukee, going 1-0 with a 1.17 ERA (7.2IP, 4H, 1R/ER, 1BB, 5K, 0HR)…spent the majority of the season with Triple-A Nashville, going 4-0 with two saves and a 3.03 ERA (29.2IP, 20H, 10R/ER, 11BB, 39K, 3HR) in 30 relief appearances…was placed on the 15-day injured list on 7/26 (retroactive to 7/25) and was transferred to the 60-day injured list on 9/12, missing the rest of the season due to left elbow tendinitis…was claimed off waivers by the Chicago Cubs on 11/4 and was designated for assignment on 2/4/25…was outrighted to Triple-A Iowa on 2/11/25 and elected free agency on 2/12/25.

Represented Canada in the 2023 World Baseball Classic, starting on 3/15 vs. Mexico (L, 2ip, 3h, 3r, 3er, 2bb, 2k, 1hbp, 1bk).

2022

Spent a majority of the season at the Triple-A level between Syracuse (New York - NL) and Salt Lake (Los Angeles – AL)…Went a combined 1-5 with one save, a 3.42 ERA (55.1ip/21er) and 68 strikeouts in 34 appearances (six starts) at the Triple-A level…Began the season in Syracuse’s bullpen before making six of his next eight appearances as a member of the starting rotation from 4/20 to 5/29…Was on the seven-day injured list from 5/30 to 6/17…Had his contract selected by New York on 8/20…Allowed one run in 1.0 inning in his Mets debut in game two of a doubleheader on 8/20 at Philadelphia… Was optioned back to Syracuse on 8/21 and designated for assignment on 8/22…Was claimed off waivers by Los Angeles on 8/25 and optioned to Triple-A…Was charged with two runs in 1.0 inning in his first outing with Salt Lake before not allowing a run in his final seven appearances (7.0ip)…Was recalled by Los Angeles on 9/20 and charged with three runs (2er) while not retiring any of the three batters he faced in his Angels debut on 9/21 at Texas… Tossed a combined 3.0 scoreless innings without allowing a hit in his final three outings.

2019

Signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers as a minor league free agent on 3/26...Split the season between Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma City, making a combined 19 starts (23 appearances) and posting a 5.58 ERA (70 ER/113.0 IP) with 104 strikeouts...His 19 starts were his most in a season since he made 23 starts in 2016 (Double-A Tennessee and Triple-A Iowa)...Struck out a season-high 10 batters on 5/4 at New Orleans...Elected free agency on 11/4 and signed with the Orioles as a minor league free agent on 11/18.

2018

Spent the majority of the season at Triple-A Iowa, pitching exclusively out of the bullpen, making 33 appearances (one start) going 3-2 with a 3.86 ERA (24 ER/56.0 IP)...Had three different stints with the Cubs...Went 1-0 with a 4.76 ERA (3 ER/5.2 IP) in six outings for Chicago-NL...Placed on the disabled list on 6/24 with back spasms and was reinstated on 7/5.

2017

Rob spent most of the season with Triple-A Iowa, going 2-3 with a 5.94 ERA (31 ER/47.0 IP) ... appeared in four games with the Cubs, allowing 12 earned runs in 13.0 innings of work... Twice pitched a career-high 4.0 innings: May 6 vs. the Yankees (3 H, 3 ER) and September 9 vs. Milwaukee (6 H, 5 ER)... Allowed at least two runs in all four of his outings with Chicago... Appeared in 14 games with Iowa, starting half of those games ... tossed a season-high 6.0 innings, July 25 at El Paso, allowing just one run... Was placed on the minor league disabled list from May 16-July 25 with a back injury ... made three rehab appearances with rookie league Mesa.

2016

Rob made his major league debut with the Cubs and went 1-0 with a 1.13 ERA (2 ER/16.0 IP) in eight games, including one start, over the final two months with the club ... Was selected to his first major league roster, August 19, and made his debut that night at Colorado in the 10th inning ... allowed two hits and one walk but tossed a scoreless inning of relief to send the game to the 11th inning ... Was a member of the NLCS roster against the Los Angeles Dodgers but did not appear in a game ... Struck out a career-high five batters in 2.2-scoreless frames, August 21 at Colorado ... Made his longest relief outing of the season, August 27 at the Dodgers, allowing just one hit and walking none in 3.2 innings pitched ... Made his first-career start, September 29 at Pittsburgh, going 3.2 innings in the 1-1 tie game ... allowed just one run, which was unearned, and struck out four batters ... Held opponents to a .207 average (12-for-58), including a .138 mark by lefties (4-for-29) ... Went 10-5 with a 4.31 ERA (65 ER/135.2 IP) in 24 minor league games (23 starts) between Double-A Tennessee and Triple-A Iowa ... Had three stints on the disabled list, missing time from April 13-24, May 1-June 27 and August 21 through the end of the season with a left ankle injury ... Went 2-3 with a 4.58 ERA (28 ER/55.0 IP) in his first 12 starts of the season ... allowed 14 earned runs in 5.2 innings in his final two outings ... Best month came in July as he posted a 4.02 ERA (14 ER/31.1 IP) in six starts ... Made one rehab appearance with Rookie League Mesa, allowing one run on three hits in 4.0 innings, June 22.

2014

In his second season in the Cubs organization, Rob went 4-6 with a 4.66 ERA (57 ER/110.0 IP) in 23 starts with Single-A Daytona ... struck out 110 batters, the fourth-highest total in the Cubs system ... Went 3-1 with a 3.32 ERA (23 ER/62.1 IP) in 12 starts after the All-Star Break, compared to 1-5 with a 6.42 ERA (34 ER/47.2 IP) in 11 starts prior to the Break ... allowed seven fewer hits in the second half despite pitching 14.2 more innings ... Posted a 9.39 ERA (24 ER/23.0 IP) in the first inning and a 3.41 ERA (33 ER/87.0 IP) after the first inning ... Struck out a season-high nine batters twice: June 9 at Clearwater and August 26 at Dunedin.

2013

Rob went 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA (6 ER/24.0 IP) in 11 games (seven starts) with Single-A Boise and Single-A Kane County ... Began his pro career with Boise, posting no record and a 3.14 ERA (5 ER/14.1 IP) in eight games, including seven starts ... Was promoted to Single-A Kane County August 7 and appeared in three games as a reliever, going 1-0 with a 0.93 ERA (1 ER/9.2 IP) ... his season was cut short after being placed on the disabled list August 22 with a right knee injury.
