On April 15, 1947, Jackie Robinson broke Baseball's color barrier when he made his historic MLB debut. Every year on April 15, Baseball honors Jackie's legacy by celebrating his life, values and accomplishments.

About MiLB Together
Minor League Baseball is excited to announce the launch of MiLB Together, a community relations platform created to spotlight local MiLB Club impact, elevate our national partnerships, and encourage everyone – from fans to players to Club and League staff – to get involved in their communities.
MiLB Together key initiatives and partnerships align with one of six strategic pillars:
- Youth Empowerment
- Inclusion
- Domestic and Physical Safety
- Health Research and Resources
- Military Family and Veteran Support
- Sustainability
This platform, a sister program to MLB Together, builds on baseball’s longstanding efforts to unite, fundraise, and promote dialogue within communities nationwide. With a permanent presence within 119 markets, Minor League Baseball is uniquely positioned to make a positive impact at scale.
Our current national partners include Stand Up To Cancer, Joe Torre Safe At Home, and the RADical Hope Foundation.
Locally, our Clubs contributed over $16 million of monetary and in-kind donations to community partners in 2024. And thus far in 2025 they have continued this commitment through local outreach and partnership with thousands of organizations, such as visits with patients at local hospitals, supporting military veterans and families, fundraising for flood relief in the Texas Hill Country, and engaging with local youth programs.
We look forward to expanding on these meaningful efforts as the MiLB Together platform is further established in the years to come.
June 2 was chosen specifically as the date for Lou Gehrig Day as it marks when Gehrig became the Yankees' starting first baseman and signifies the day he passed from complications of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), otherwise known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
Minor League teams emphasize and practice sustainability through waste diversion, composting, sustainable purchase, water conservation and energy efficient practices throughout the year.
