John Tyler Zuber graduated from White Hall High School (Ark.) and won the Arkansas 5A state championship in 2012, his Junior year...Recorded 258 strikeouts at Arkansas State, the second-most in school history...Became the highest drafted player from the school (sixth round)…Is married to his wife, Ashton...Currently lives in Arizona, but his dream is to move back to Arkansas...Would love to live on a large plot of land with a pond and an area to hunt.

2024

Began the season in the Cleveland organization before being released on March 24...Made six appearances for the Long Island Ducks of the independent Atlantic League and pitched to a 1.59 ERA (1 ER/5.2 IP) with 10 strikeouts...Signed with the Tampa Bay Rays as a Minor League free agent on May 14...Appeared in two games for the Rays and allowed one run over 3.1 innings...Was acquired by the Mets on July 31...Appeared in 17 games for Syracuse (AAA).

2023

2023 marked his first season in the Arizona organization...Was with Kansas City’s organization from 2017-22, spending all of 2020 and parts of 2021 at the Major League level...Made return from right shoulder injury which kept him off the mound in 2022, pitching in 16 games (all relief) for Triple-A Reno from May 3-June 30 before being released on 7/3...Spent five weeks with Estrellas in the DR beginning in late Oct., appearing in 13 games (4.63 ERA, 11.2IP, 8H, 12K)...Also spent considerable time at Driveline.

2022

Placed on Kansas City’s 60-day Injured List on 3/16 with right shoulder impingement syndrome, missing the entire season...Underwent shoulder surgery in May...claimed off waivers by Arizona on 10/26.

2021

Pitched in parts of five stints with the Royals, from April 13-June 6, July 20-25, Aug. 29-Sept. 4, Sept. 5-20 and Sept. 29 through season’s end...he went 0-3 with four holds and a 6.26 ERA (19 ER in 27.1 IP) with 25 strikeouts, while opponents batted .250 (26-for-104) against him...He held right-handed batters to a .192 average (10- for-52) with one extra-base hit, but lefties batted .308 (16-for-52) with five homers...among Royals pitchers who faced at least 60 right-handed hitters, his average against ranked second to only Josh Staumont (.164, 23- for-140)...Fared much better at Kauffman Stadium, pitching to a 3.79 ERA (8 ER in 19.0 IP), compared to his 11.88 ERA (11 ER in 8.1 IP) on the road...Pitched in 28 games at Triple-A Omaha, going 1-3 with a 2.83 ERA (9 ER in 28.2 IP), while also recording eight saves...his eight saves were tied for second among Royals farmhands with Jonah Dipoto, behind only Josh Dye (9)...Stranded seven of the eight runners he inherited in Omaha, while also stranding 16 of the 22 runners he inherited with the Royals...overall, he stranded 23 of the 30 runners he inherited on the season (76.7%).

Made the Opening Day roster and recorded 23 appearances—17 of which were scoreless—including his debut on Opening Day (July 24) vs. Cleveland (2.0 IP)...Became the 10th Royals pitcher to make his Major League debut on Opening Day and the first since Tim Hill and Brad Keller in 2018…was the first Royal to record 2.0 scoreless innings in his debut on Opening Day, and one of two to do it in the Majors in 2020, joining the Rays’ Ryan Thompson...Earned his first win on Aug. 8 vs. Minnesota, recording 1.1 innings in relief of Danny Duffy (4.0 IP) ahead of the Royals’ six-run fourth inning...Pitched to a 0.96 ERA (1 ER in 9.1 IP) in nine September outings, after posting a 6.39 ERA (9 ER in 12.2 IP) through Aug. 30...Had multiple strikeouts in nine of 23 outings, including seven of nine in September, and had three strikeouts in three of his last four outings...In his final appearance on Sept. 26, struck out the side on 10 pitches (9 strikes), missing an immaculate inning with a ball to Austin Romine on an 0-2 pitch...He issued 20 walks in 22.0 innings (8.18 BB/9), matching Andre Scrubb (23.2 IP) and Yohan Ramírez (20.2 IP) for the most walks among relievers... Split the season between Wilmington (A+) and Northwest Arkansas (AA), combining to go 4-4 with 21 saves and a 1.79 ERA (11 ER in 55.1 IP)…held the opposition to a .181 batting average (34-for-188) in his two stops...His ERA was the lowest among Royals' farmhands, while his save total and WHIP (0.90) ranked second (min. 50.0 IP)...Named a Carolina League midseason All-Star…recorded the save for the North Division, despite allowing two runs in the ninth inning...Held right-handed batters to a .136 average (14-for-103) between his two stops…lefties batted .235 against him (20for-85)...Allowed just one earned run over his final 15 appearances (21.0 IP) with Wilmington (April 26-June 15), before being promoted to Double-A…during that run, he went 8-for-9 in save opportunities...After surrendering five earned runs in his first nine appearances with the Naturals, pitched to a 1.23 ERA (2 ER in 14.2 IP) in his final 13 outings of the year…allowed just three walks and recorded 17 strikeouts (10.43 K/9) in that span...Pitched for the Tigres del Licey in the Dominican Winter League, going 3-0 with a 1.20 ERA (2 ER in 15.0 IP) with a 0.87 WHIP in 17 appearances.

2018

Spent time at both Lexington (A) and Wilmington, going 18-for-20 in save opportunities to lead all KC minor league hurlers...Allowed just one   run over his first eight appearances (April 5-May 3), posting a 0.96 ERA (1 ER in 9.1 IP), holding the opposition to a .206 average in that span (7-for-34)...Successful in his first 11 save opportunities, before suffering his first blown save on July 11 at Frederick (with Wilmington), allowing a pair of ninth-inning runs.

2017

In his first professional season, pitched for both Burlington (Rookie) and Lexington, going 1-0 with six saves and a 3.62 ERA (11 ER in 27.1 IP) in 19 combined appearances...Recorded 38 strikeouts in 25.0 innings with the B-Royals (13.68 K/9).
