Appeared in 15 games with the Chicago Cubs after opening the season in the Baltimore Orioles organization playing for the Triple-A Ottawa Lynx...batted .279 (17-for-61) in 20 games for Ottawa before being released by Baltimore May 16...signed with the Cubs the next day and went on to hit .136 (3-for-22) in 15 games, seeing action at all 4 infield positions...did not play again after being outrighted to Triple-A Iowa June 28...made his Cub debut as a pinch hitter May 20 vs. the White Sox...his first hit as a Cub was an infield single off Duaner Sanchez June 1 at Los Angeles.

2004

Established career highs with 6 homers and 31 RBI in his 4th and final season with the Yankees...batted .213 with 9 double in 93 games...appeared in 80 games (64 starts) at second base and 16 games (4 starts) at shortstop...5 of his 6 home runs came in a 12-game stretch from May 21-June 4 (44 at-bats)...drove in 20 of his 31 runs in May, when he recorded 2 career-high 4-RBI games in a 3-game series at Baltimore, May 25 and 27...had at least one RBI in 4 straight games May 23-27, the longest such streak of his career...led the A.L. with a .462 (18-for-39) average in 15 Spring Training games.

2003

Spent the season as New York's utility infielder, making 16 starts at shortstop, 9 starts at third base and 8 starts at second base...was the last member of the Yankees' Opening Day roster to appear in a game for the 2nd straight season...his homer May 11 at Oakland was his first long ball since June 1, 2002 vs. Boston, a span of 40 games...entered the game as a defensive replacement at second base July 7 vs. Boston and went 2-for-3 with 2 doubles, becoming the first Yankee to record 2 extra-base hits in a game he did not start since Don Mattingly in 1995...crushed his 3rd career grand slam August 7 vs. Texas off Joaquin Benoit...clubbed his first career pinch-hit home run September 15 at Baltimore off Hector Carrasco.

2002

Started 20 games for the Yankees, but was the last member of New York's Opening Day roster to see action...belted his 2nd career grand slam June 1 vs. Boston off Rich Garces...made his only career start in right field June 29 vs. the Mets...had a career-high 2 triples, including one from both sides of the plate, July 3 vs. Cleveland.

2001

Split the season between Pittsburgh and New York, batting a combined .211 with 2 homers and 20 RBI in 94 games...the 94 games were his most since playing in a career-high 113 games with Cleveland in 1999...began the season with 46 games for the Pirates before being acquired by the Yankees June 13 for LHP Damaso Marte...hit safely in 14 of 16 games from August 25-September 22, batting .360 (18-for-50).

2000

Enjoyed success with Cleveland to begin the season, batting .325 with 9 doubles and 16 runs scored in 40 games before being traded to Pittsburgh with OF Alex Gonzalez for OF Wil Cordero July 28...homered in his first game with the Pirates August 1 vs. Los Angeles off Antonio Osuna...hit his first inside-the-park home run May 21 vs. the Yankees...matched his career high with a 9-game hitting streak from August 20-29, going 14-for-30 (.467)...had 3 hits in 9 at-bats as a pinch-hitter for the Pirates...missed the season's final 14 games with a sprained ankle.

1999

Spent his first full season in the majors with Cleveland, setting career highs with 22 doubles, 87 hits, 41 runs and 113 games...put together a career-high 9-game hitting streak from April 8-25, but hit just .273 (9-for-33) during that stretch...belted 2 home runs, the first of which came in Cleveland's home opener vs. Kansas City April 12...his 2nd homer came at Kansas City September 29.

1998

Hit .322 in 32 games with the Indians despite missing much of the season due to injury...suffered a torn ligament in his left thumb during a stolen base attempt in his 3rd game of the season, April 3 at Anaheim...was placed on the 15-day D.L. April 6 and had surgery to repair the damaged ligament April 7 in Cleveland by Dr. Louis Keppler...was transferred to the 60-day D.L. April 14...made a 20-game rehab stint with Triple-A Buffalo beginning June 2 and remained with the Bisons after being activated from the D.L. June 16...was recalled to Cleveland August 3 and spent much of the rest of the season at the major league level...stroked his first career home run September 13 vs. Chicago off Jim Parque...had a career-high 4 RBI via his first career grand slam September 21 at New York off Andy Pettitte.

1997

Ranked 4th in the American Association with a .306 batting average, while pacing the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons with 78 runs scored, 118 hits and 451 at-bats...was promoted to Cleveland September 12 after the Triple-A playoffs and made his major league debut September 24 vs. New York...collected his first big league hit that night off Dwight Gooden...recorded his first career big league RBI the next night vs. New York...earned a spot on Cleveland's Division Series roster in place of the injured Herbert Perry.

1996

Earned a spot on the mid- and post-season Eastern League All-Star teams after ranking 7th in the league with a .304 batting average and stealing a professional career-best 23 bases...led all league shortstops with 75 double plays turned in 113 games at that position...was promoted to Triple-A Buffalo August 31 and went 4-for-5 in his first game, September 1 vs. Nashville.

1995

Was named the Best Defensive Shortstop and Most Exciting Player in the Carolina League by Baseball America...was named to the league's All-Star squad after tying for the league lead with 7 triples...was added to Cleveland's 40-man roster following Single-A Kinston's league title run.

1994

Was named to the post-season South Atlantic League All-Star team after tying for 2nd in the league with 12 triples and leading all league shortstops with 123 games played, 587 chances and 382 assists...struck out just 34 times in 566 total plate appearances, the best ratio (1/16.65) in the SAL...homered from both sides of the plate July 15 vs. Capital City.

1993

Ranked 2nd in the Appalachian League with a .569 slugging percentage, registering a team-high 13 homers and 50 RBI for short-season Single-A Elizabethton...was also named to the Baseball America Appalachian League All-Star team after ranking 2nd in the league in HR ratio (one HR every 15.15 at-bats) and 3rd in ratio of strikeouts to total plate appearances (one K every 12.22 PA).

1992

Began his professional career with the Gulf Coast League Twins, batting .341 (15-for-44) with 8 RBI and 12 runs scored in 13 games.
