2004

Pitching for his 3rd team in 3 years, went 7-6 with a 4.70 ERA in 34 games (14 starts) for the Devil Rays in his 6th full major league campaign...worked 118.2 innings, his highest total since 2000 when he worked 166.2 innings as a full-time starter for Seattle...went 5-5 with a 6.03 ERA (50 ER/74.2 IP) as a starter, but thrived in a relief role, posting a 2-1 record and a 2.45 ERA (12 ER/44.0 IP)...his first 14 appearances were out of the bullpen prior to joining the Rays rotation June 18...went on to make 12 starts in a row through August 21...appeared in 6 games out of the bullpen August 28- September 22 before closing out the year with a pair of starts...had 5 quality starts, all of which came against American League East foes, including 2 against the Red Sox.

NO FEARING THE MONSTER: Took the hill 3 times at Fenway Park, going 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA (4 ER/12.0 IP)...after appearing in both ends of a doubleheader April 29, returned to Boston August 9 and handed Curt Schilling his lone Fenway loss of 2004 by tossing 6.0 innings of 3-run ball in an 8-3 Tampa Bay win.

MORE 2004 HIGHLIGHTS: Worked 2.0 shutout innings March 31 vs. the Yankees in the Tokyo Dome, closing out a 12-1 Devil Rays setback and the 2-game stint with New York in Japan...in his first start of the season June 18 at Arizona, outdueled Randy Johnson, yielding 2 runs in 5.0 innings en route to a 6-2 triumph...in a 2-0 victory July 16 vs. Baltimore, allowed just 3 hits in 8.0 shutout innings, his longest start of the year.

2003

Split the season between the Mariner's bullpen and starting rotation...was 4-1 with a 4.83 ERA in 10 starts (27 ER in 50.1 IP) and 2-4 with a 2.31 ERA in 21 relief appearances (13 ER in 50.2 IP)...Earned the win in his first start on April 9 at Anaheim, tossing 73 pitches in 6.0 innings and allowing a run on four hits in the 5-1 victory...in his first four starts, the Mariners were 4-0 and he gave up seven earned runs in 22.0 innings (2.86 ERA)...was 1-1 in six games in May with a 0.47 ERA (1 ER in 19.1 IP)...Was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on August 18 following a 9-3 loss vs. New York (AL) on Aug. 16...made a pair of starts for AAA Tacoma and was recalled on Sept. 1.

Valuable swing man pitched well as starter and reliever...was 6-6 with a 5.78 ERA in 17 starts and 4-1, 1.84 ERA in 14 relief appearances...allowed one run (in the 1st) in 7.0 innings, beating Anaheim 4-1 April 20...hurled seven scoreless innings in a 8-1 victory June 10 vs. San Diego, giving Seattle a 2-1 series win...after 17 starts was optioned to Tacoma June 28...in his first start for Tacoma (July 2) he allowed 1 run in 7.0 innings on 4 hits at Oklahoma...pitched first nine inning perfect game (fifth of any duration) in the 99-year history of the Pacific Coast League on July 7 leading the Rainiers to a 6-0 victory over Calgary; was second AAA outing, first at Cheney Stadium...had nine strikeouts, seven fly ball outs, and eleven ground ball outs in perfecto...recalled from Tacoma July 16...pitched shutout 7th inning vs. Arizona in his first relief appearance that day...notched win in relief at Minnesota July 21, allowing one run in 4.1 innings...retired all 6 batters faced August 17 at New York, his first game in 10 days...picked up his 10th win Sept. 5 vs. Tampa Bay with 2.1 shutout innings...allowed one earned run in final 11 appearances from Aug. 7- Oct. 4 (23.1 IP, 0.39 ERA).

2000

Continued to be one of Seattle's most consistent starters, recording 14 wins...was 9-4 with a 4.33 ERA in 16 home starts (97.2 IP, 47 ER) and 5-5, 6.10 in 14 road starts (69.1 IP, 47 ER)...earned win #1 April 7 vs. New York going six innings with two earned runs...tallied win #2 April 25 vs. Cleveland in a game that he allowed four runs in the 1st inning, then retired nine of the next 11 batters...tossed a four-hit complete game shutout vs. Minnesota May 17...was 6-0 in his first nine starts, joining Randy Johnson (1995) and Rick Honeycutt (1980) as the only Mariners to start the season 6-0...snapped a three-game losing streak with a 2-1 win over Baltimore June 24...pitched nine innings, but got a ND in a 5-4, 19-inning win over Boston, Aug. 1...took home win number 11 vs. Chicago Aug. 11, retiring 18 of the first 19 batters faced...surpassed his career-high with win #13 in a crucial division contest vs. the Athletics Sept. 11, snapping the Mariners three-game losing streak...earned his 14th win Sept. 30 in Anaheim, 21-9 going five innings with five hits and two earned runs.
