2012

Missed the season following lower back surgery to repair an injury suffered during a February workout...Had surgery to repair a damaged disc in his lower back on 3/1 in Miami…Was performed by Dr. Barth Green of the University of Miami School of Medicine...Did not appear in a game because of the back injury and then persistent knee soreness...On 8/21 the Indians announced he no longer would participate in baseball-related activities.

2011

Season never got going with three trips to the Major League disabled list...Grady is the only hitter in Indians franchise history with at least 200 doubles, 100 home runs and 100 stolen bases...Season extra base total in 2011 was 32 compared to 8 the previous season...OPS jumped from .560 to .706...Began the season on the 15-day DL recovering from June 2010 left micro-fracture knee surgery...Hit .353 (6-17) w/ 2RS, HR & 4RBI in 5G on rehab assignment between AA Akron and AAA Columbus...Was activated from the DL on April 17 and was outstanding the rest of April, hitting .378 (17-45) with 8 2B, 4HR & 9 RBI in 11 games (1.251OPS)...Surpassed his 2010 extra base total of 8 by collecting 9 extra base hits in his first 8 games of the season...Homered in first game back on April 17 vs. Baltimore (2-4, 2B, HR), his first game since May 16, 2010 and his first homer since August 27, 2009 at Baltimore...Was placed on the DL for a second time with a right knee contusion after injuring his right knee sliding awkwardly into second base on May 10 vs. Tampa Bay, injuring his right knee and right groin on the play...Was on the DL from May 11-26 and was never right, hitting a combined .177 (25-141) in May/June combined with 9 2B, 3HR & 11 RBI in 36 games (.569OPS)...Led off game of May 10 with a home run, the 22nd time in his career he has done so to extend his franchise record...Was hitting .283 (13-46) in July w/4 2B, 3HR & 9RBI (.911OPS) when he injured the right knee again running out a double at Baltimore on July 17 and was placed on the DL for a third time the next day...Underwent surgery for a sports hernia in his right groin area dating back to the May 10 slide vs. Tampa Bay on July 21 in Philadelphia, PA (Dr. Bill Meyers)...Grady was on the DL for a third time from July 18-September 4 and hit .139 (5-36) with 2RS, 3RBI in 10 games upon his return in September ...Also rehabbed briefly at AA Akron and AAA Columbus from August 31-Sept. 3...Is 52 hits shy of 1,000 for his career (has 948)...Attempted only 2 steals in 71 games (0SB/2CS)...Was shut down for season with continued soreness in the knee joint on September 22 and missed the final 6 days of the season and underwent an arthroscopic procedure in Vail, CO (Dr. Richard Steadman) on the knee joint on October 3 (6 to 8 week recovery time)...2012 club option declined on Oct. 31 and re-signed to one-year deal on November 23.

2010

Season never quite got started as he was limited to just 33 games due to a left knee injury that eventually required season-ending surgery in June...Originally injured the knee in an exhibition game on April 1 in Los Angeles against the Dodgers and it bothered him the entire year...Final game came on May 16 in Baltimore after re-aggravating the injury sliding back into a base. ...Placed on the 15-day DL on May 19 with a bone bruise in his left knee and did not play again the rest of the season... Underwent micro-fracture surgery on his left knee on June 4 in Vail, Colorado by Dr. Richard Steadman with the intention of being ready for the beginning of the 2011 regular season...Was scratched from the lineup on April11 at Detroit with mid-back soreness and played again 3 days later. ...On the year he made 31 starts in center field, making just 1 error in 65 total chances....Error on May 14 ended a 157- game errorless streak dating back to 2008...Made all 31 starts in the #2 spot in the order, mainly hitting behind Asdrubal Cabrera...At the time of his injury he was tied for second in the AL with 2 triples...Did not homer on the season, but did homer off Detroit's Jeremy Bonderman on May 7 that was nullified by a rainout...Reached base safely in 22 of 33 games...Hit .263 (15-57) with runners on, .276 (8-29) with RISP and .266 (21-79) off RHP.

2009

Injuries took their toll on Sizemore's season, which forced him onto the disabled list for the first time in his career in May and shutdown his season four (4) weeks prematurely on Sept 4... Was placed on the disabled list on May 31 with inflammation in his left elbow, which he originally injured in spring training...At the time of the injury he was hitting .223 (46-206) w/11 2B, 9HR & 31 RBI in 49 games (.309OB/.417SLG/.726OPS)...Following his activation on June 23 he hit .270 (62-230) w/9 2B, 5 3B, 9HR & 33 RBI in 57 games (.373OB/ .470SLG/.843OPS) to raise his average from .223 to .248...From July 3rd until his season ended on Sept. 3 he hit .281 (56-199) with 8 2B, 4 3B, 8HR & 24RBI in 49 games (.386OB/.482SLG/.869OPS), percentages which met or exceed the totals from his 2007 and 2008 campaigns...Had left elbow surgery on Sept. 9 at the Cleveland Clinic by Dr. Mark Schickendantz to remove the inflammation and another surgery on Sept. 16 in Philadelphia (Dr. Bill Meyers) to address instability in his lower left abdominal wall (athletic pubalgia) that initially shut him down in spring training for a week and bothered him the entire regular season...The injury in spring training also forced him to withdrawal from the World Baseball Classic....Was limited to 13 steals in 21 attempts (62%) due to the groin soreness...Had a pair of two-homer games, giving him 8 on his career (last coming on July 7 @CWS)...Also led off games with home runs 3 times, giving him a franchise record 21 lead-off homers (Kenny Lofton is 2nd with 18)...Last lead off HR came on August 27 at BAL...Hit his 3rd career grand slam on April 16 at New Yankee Stadium vs. the Yankees, the first slam ever in the new park...Did not make an error in 92 games in the field (92GS in CF) and owns a 128-game errorless streak dating back to August 18, 2008...Also made 14 starts at DH...STATS- Reached base safely in 92 of 106 games via hit or walk...From August 9 thru the end of the season he hit .307 (27-88) with 18RS, 4 2B, 2 3B, 3HR & 7RBI in 22 games (.402OB/.500SLG/.902OPS)...Hit lead off in 77 games, in the #2-hole in 28 games and in the 3-hole one time...Was T14th in the league with 6 triples...Was the 6th hardest player in the AL to double up (109AB per GIDP).

2008

Had another outstanding season offensively as he joined Joe Carter (1987) as the only two players in club history to hit 30HR and steal 30 bases...Compiled a career-high 33 home runs (T6th in the AL) and 38 steals (5th in the AL)...10th American League player (14th time) to hit 30HR and steal 30 bases (33rd player/53rd time)...Hanley Ramirez did it in the NL this year and Alfonso Soriano in 2005 was the last AL player...First Indian since "Shoeless" Joe Jackson (1911-14) to lead the team in hits in 4 straight seasons (2005-08)...Won his second consecutive Rawlings Gold Glove Award (Lofton in 1995-96 last Tribe OF with consecutive awards) and won his first career Silver Slugger Award, the first by a Tribe OF since Juan Gonzalez in 2001...At 26 was the youngest Tribe SS winner since Jim Thome in 1996... Had another outstanding season offensively and ranked among the American League leaders in several categories... Finished 4th in the league in runs scored (118), 5th in walks (101), T6th in stolen bases, (career-high 33 in 43 attempts, 77%), T17th in home runs, 14th in total bases (290), T16th in extra base hits (63) and 5th in HBP (17)... Doubles went from 53 in 2006 to 34 in 2007 (EB hits from 92 to 63) ... Amassed singleseason career highs in homers, steals and walks.... Stole a career-high 3 bases on April 10 vs. LAA ... Joined OF Joe Carter is just the 4th Indian with at least 20 home runs and 25 stolen bases in the same season...JOE CARTER (1986-88), ROBERTO ALOMAR (1999, 2001) & BOBBY BONDS (1979) had done it previously... It's also the 3rd consecutive year that he has at least 20HR and 20SB...Joe Carter is the only other Indian to post those numbers in 3 straight campaigns... Hit lead-off in the first 118 games of the season before starting in the #3 spot on August 14 vs. Detroit. ..Was the first time he did not start in the lead-off spot since May 13, 2005... Made 2 errors in 405 total chances (.995), the 4th best fielding % among AL outfielders (4 assists) ... HOT STARTLed off the season with a HR, becoming the 30th Major Leaguer to hit a lead-off homer on opening day and the third Indian along with Julio Franco (1988) and Charlie Jamieson (1925) ... 2006

Had an historic season on the club and Major League level as he became just the 2nd Major League Player, and first Indian/AL player, with 50 doubles, 10 triples, 20 homers and 20 steals in the same season (HOF OF Chuck Klein in 1932 for Philadelphia is the only other player to ever do it)...Became just the 4th player in MLB history with 50 doubles, 10 triples & 25 homers in the same season and the first to do it since Joe 'Ducky' Medwick in 1937...Lou Gehrig (1927) & Chuck Klein (1932) also did it (all three are in the Hall of Fame)...Finished 11th in the American League MVP voting...Won the Cleveland "Man of the Year" Award...His American League-best 53 doubles were the 3rd highest single-season total in franchise history behind only Ed Burns & Tris Speaker as he became the first Indian since Albert Belle in 1995 to lead the AL in doubles & extra base hits...Most doubles by an Indian since 1926 (Ed Burns club record 64)...Also led the AL/MLB with 92 extra base hits, the 3rd highest single-season mark in club history behind Albert Belle (103 in 1995) & Hal Trosky (96 in 1936) as he became the first Indian since Belle in 1995 to lead the league in EB hits...The 92 extra base hits were a club record out of the lead-off spot and were the highest total in the Majors out of the #1 hole dating back to at least the 1957 season...Was just the 3rd Indian in club history (Tris Speaker, 3x, '20-21-23) & Odell Hale in '36) to hit 50 2B & 10 3B in the same season as his 11 triples ranked 3rd in the AL...Also led the American League/Majors in runs scored (134), the 5th highest total in club history (R. Had a breakout season, his first full season in the Major Leagues, as he established himself as one of baseball's up and coming stars...Became just the 2nd Cleveland Indian to record 20 doubles, 10 triples, 20 HR & 20 SB in same season, joining Roberto Alomar 2001 and was the only player in MLB to accomplish it in 2005 (Abreu in 2000 & Durham/Beltran/Alomar in 2001 only players to do it in this decade)...Was just the 7th Cleveland Indian to hit 20HR & steal 20 bases in same season and one of just five big leaguers in 2005 to do it...All-Stars Bobby Abreu, Alex Rodriguez, Jason Bay & Alfonso Soriano also did it... Most hits (185) and runs (111) by an Indian sine Robbie Alomar's 193/113 in 2001...His 185 hits led all 2nd year Major League Players, just ahead of PIT Jason Bay (183)...Finished T9th in the American League in runs scored (111 w/Ichiro) and finished 5th in the Majors in RS in the 2nd half (58)...Among AL centerfielders, only Toronto's Vernon Wells had more HR and RBI (28/95) than Grady's 22/81...Also finished 11th in the AL in hits (185), 9th in total bases (team-high 310), 3rd in triples (11), 4th in road average (.324), T10th in multi-hit games (52) & T10th in extra base hits (70)...His 103 road hits were the most by an Indian since at least 1959 (home/road splits only go back to 1959)...Had more total bases than Paul Konerko, Gary Sheffield, Richie Sexson and Vlad Guerrero... Was originally slated to open the season in AAA Buffalo after being optioned at the end of spring training on March 28 to AAA Buffalo...Was recalled 3 days later on March 31 when Juan Gonzalez was DL'd...His team-high 132 strikeouts were the T4th most in the American League (was 9th w/640 AB)...Hit .324 (73-225) with runners on base, .279 (56-201) after the 7th inning and .279 (19-68) with RISP-2outs...The .324 average w/men on base was 17th in the AL...Was also 11th in the league with 2682 pitches seen.

Split the season between AAA Buffalo and the big leagues, making his major league debut in July before returning to Buffalo to lead the Bisons to the International League championship after leading AA Akron to the Eastern League crown in 2003...Got off to a slow start at AAA Buffalo after a late spring stomach illness caused him to lose almost 15 pounds...Hit .228 (34-149) over the season's first 39 games w/2HR & 19RBI from 4/8-5/19 as he battled to regain strength and weight from illness that forced him to spend several days in Winter Haven Hospital...Thru the rest of the Triple A season he hit .320 (86-269) with 6HR & 32RBI over his final 62 games...Hit .344 (43-125) in June with 10 2B, 2 3B, 2HR & 14 RBI in 28 games (27 runs scored) Was recalled from Buffalo on 7/20 when the Indians returned home from a West Coast trip and made his major league debut on 7/21 vs. Chicago-AL as a defensive replacement...Made his first start the next night and recorded his first major league hit & RBI on 7/23 vs. Kansas City off Mike Wood (RBI double)...Had the game winning hit in the night game of a day/night DH on 7/24 vs. KC in the 9th inning off Rudy Seanez that broke a 3-3 tie...Hit first major league home run on 7/25 vs. KC off Zack Greinke and stole first base on 7/28 vs. Detroit...Had game-winning double on 8/5 at Toronto & recorded a 3-hit game on 8/9 at Chicago-AL (3-5, RS, season-high equaling 2RBI)...Went 2 for his next 33 from 8/10 before being optioned back to AAA Buffalo on 8/30 to get more at bats thru regular and post season after Coco Crisp established himself in centerfield...Spent remainder of regular season with the Bisons before hitting .333 (10-30) w/5RS, 2HR & 7 RBI in 9 playoff games for the IL champions...Hit .327 (49-150) in the leadoff spot... Hit .306 (57-186) with runners on base and .298 (34-114) with RISP...Finished tied for 6th in the IL with 8 triples... Was recalled again on 9/18 and spent remainder of the season w/the Tribe, hitting .306 (15-49) with 2 2B, 2 3B, 2HR & 9 RBI in 13 games to conclude the season, raising his average from .213 to .246...Enjoyed his 2nd career 3-hit game on 9/26 vs. Minnesota (3-4, 2B, 2RBI) and again on 10/2 at Minnesota (3-5, career-high 3 runs scored, RBI) and came within a double of the cycle...With the Tribe he made 38 starts in centerfield (42G) and made just 1 error in 106 total chances (.991 fielding %)...Did not record an extra base hit off a LHP w/Cleveland (8 singles, .178 slg %)... Had a .516 slg % off RHP.

2003

Had an outstanding season at AA Akron in his first full season in the Indians organization, winning the Lou Boudreau Award as the organization's top position player...Led the organization in runs (96) and hits (151), finished 3rd in average (.304) and tied for third in RBI (78) among Indians farmhands...Hit 13 HR in 496 at bats after entering the season with 6 career HR as a professional in 1084 at bats...Finished tied for the Eastern League lead in triples (11) and tied for second in the EL in runs scored (96)...In addition to being named to the EL Post-Season All-Star Team, he won the Eastern League Rookie of the Year Award and was runner-up for league MVP...Won the Larry Doby Award as the MVP in the RadioShack All-Star Future's Game, which ended with the U.S. defeating the World, 3-2,in Chicago's U.S. Cellular Field...Sizemore was 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI (RBI single in the first inning off Rich Harden, HR to lead off 3rd)...Also went 1 for 2 in the Double A All-Star Game, starting the contest in CF...Tied a pair Akron franchise records, going 5 for 6 w/4RS & 2 2B on 4/8 vs. Harrisburg to tie the club record in hits and equaled the club record with 2 triples on 8/11 at Harrisburg (2-4, 3RS)...Also had three 4-hit games, including a 4 for 5, 3RS, 3 2B, 5RBI performance on 7/31 vs. Altoona...Scored a run in 12 consecutive games from 7/25-8/8... Began the season with an 84-game errorless streak before his first error on 7/9...Best month came in August, hitting .330 (30-91) with 2 2B, 5 3B, 4HR & 16RBI in 25 games (22RS)...From 6/1 thru the end of the season he hit .314 (90-287) with 14 2B, 8 3B, 7HR & 38RBI in 75 games...Had 40RBI over his first 53 games...Continued his torrid ways in the Eastern League playoffs, hitting .412 (14-34) in 7 games for the EL champs with 1 3B, 1HR, 7RS & 7 RBI...Was consistent vs. both LHP & RHP, hitting .306 (44-144) off LHP w/4HR & 26RBI and .304 (107-352) off RHP with 9HR & 52RBI...Was named to the Team USA 2004 Olympic qualifying team after the season and was selected to the 24-man final roster after hitting .442 (19-43) with 12RS, 2 3B, 1 HR & 7 RBI in 13 games against Arizona Fall League teams during the try-out portion...Entered 2003 season as the 7th best prospect in the Indians organization according to Baseball America.

Split the season between A Brevard City and A Kinston after being acquired in late June in a 6-player deal that included Bartolo Colon...Named to the Sportsticker All-Teen Team after hitting .343 (59-172) with 9 2B, 3 3B, 3 HR & 20 RBI in 47 games with Kinston, stealing 14 bases in 21 attempts...Underwent left wrist surgery on 9/13.

2001

Spent the season at A Clinton of the Midwest League, stealing 32 bases in 43 attempts in 123 games...Finished 2nd in the league with 81 walks.

2000

Signed first pro contract with Montreal on 6/16...Played first pro season for the Gulf Coast League Expos...Was 5th in the league in games (55) and 5th in at bats (205).
