Was born in the Dominican Republic before moving to Montreál at age 12, when his father got a new job there...In addition to playing baseball, Lopez tried his hand at hockey, basketball and badminton...Speaks three languages: Spanish, French and English...Went back to the DR four years later to have a better chance of being signed as a young player. His uncle, Urbano, helped with his move back...He and his wife, Marle Vásquez Lopez, gave birth to their first child in April 2024. The couple celebrated their wedding this past offseason in the Dominican Republic. Teammate Xavier Edwards attended the wedding....Has played four seasons in the Dominican Winter League for Escogido (‘19-20, ‘20-21, ‘22-23 and ‘23-24). Ranked eighth-best prospect in the organization by MLB.com entering the year... Started the season playing in 70 games for Double-A New Hampshire where he hit .331 (92-for-278) with 24 doubles, a triple, three home runs, 39 RBI and seven stolen bases...
