Craig Walter Brazell graduated from Jefferson Davis (AL) High School, where he played baseball...In his senior year, he hit .536 to capture the All-Metro batting championship...His father, Ted, was a catcher and a manager in the Detroit Tigers minor league system from 1970-1983.
2007
Had the most prolific home run hitting season in the entire minor leagues, combining for 39 home runs at Wichita (AA) and Omaha (AAA) and was awarded the sixth annual Round Tripper Award and will receive the Joe Bauman trophy...Began the season with Wichita, hitting .349 (38-for-109) with 7 home runs and 15 RBI in 30 games before being promoted to Omaha on May 9...Hit .307 (133-for-433) with 32 homers and 76 RBI in 105 games for Omaha and was selected to the AAA All-Star Game in Albuquerque, where he homered...Had his contract purchased by the Royals on Sept. 4...appeared in just 5 games with no starts.

In his last 14 games with an at-bat, he went 8-24 (.333) with three runs, a double, a home run and three RBI...Collected a career-high two hits, September 26th vs. Chicago...Hit his first major league home run, a game-winning solo shot in the bottom of the 11th inning vs. Chicago (Mercker) on September 25th in a 4-3 victory...Became only the second Met in club history to hit a walk-off home run as his first career home run...The other was Esix Snead on September 21, 2002 vs. Montreal...Made his first major league start, at first base, on September 22nd at Montreal...Drove in his first major league RBI with a two-run, pinch-hit double in the fifth inning of the September 13th doubleheader (Game One) vs. Atlanta...Collected his first major league hit, a pinch-hit double in the sixth inning, off Josh Beckett at Florida on September 8th...Had four consecutive pinch-hits (4-4, 2B, 2-RBI) from September 13th-September 19th...Appeared in seven games (three starts) at first base for the Mets...Made his major league debut on August 17th, pinch-hitting in the seventh inning - Struck out...Stayed in the game to play first base...Was recalled for a second time on September 1st from Norfolk...Was promoted from Norfolk (AAA) for the first time on August 15th...Was optioned back to Norfolk on August 22nd...Hit .265 (126-475) with 66 runs, 22 doubles, two triples, 23 home runs and 67 RBI in 121 games with Norfolk...Appeared in 94 games at first base and 18 games in the outfield...At Norfolk, he had 26 games with two hits and five games with three hits...Had three games with two home runs: April 17th vs. Louisville, May 9th vs. Columbus and May 31st vs. Buffalo...Knocked in four runs against Buffalo on May 31st and against Richmond on July 5th...With the Tides, he hit .310 in 29 games in May with seven home runs and 22 RBI.

Spent the majority of the season with Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League...Promoted to Norfolk (AAA) of the International League on August 20th and played 12 games for the Tides...At Binghamton he performed in 108 games at first base and was the designated hitter in one contest...Hit .322 (39-121) in 29 games in May and .405 (17-42) in 12 contests in June...Batted .301 vs. righthanded pitching (91-302) with 19 doubles, two triples and 10 home runs...Hit .285 with men in scoring position (37-130); .408 (20-49) wiht men in scoring position and two outs; and .372 (29-78) with runners on and two outs...Put together two, 12-game hitting streaks from April 14th-April 28th (18-48, .375) and May 11th-May 22nd (17-47, l362)..Hit safely in 83 of the 111 games he played at Double-A...In his first 12 games for binghamton, he went 9-48 (.188)...Was 117-384 (.305) the rest of the way...Went 4-5 vs. New Britain on June 30th...For the year, he had two-hit games, 11, three-hit contests and the one, four-hit game...Had two home runs vs. Altoona on May 17th...Collected a season-best four RBI vs. New Britain on July 3rd...Played in five games for Gigantes del Cibao in the Dominican Republic Winter League...Hit .176 (3-17) with two doubles.
