Enmanuel Valdez (pronounced ENN-man-well vahl-DEHZ)..Wife's name is Katerin...Has one daughter; Emma Sophia (8/25/24)…Grew up a Red Sox fan and enjoyed watching Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz...Went 10-for-19 with five RBI in his first eight games with Boston in 2023, becoming the 19th player in Red Sox history to record at least 10 hits and five RBI within his first eight big league games.

2024

Made his first Major League Opening Day roster and played in 76 games over four stints with the Red Sox...Made 65 appearances (56 starts) at second base and three appearances (one start on 9/29) at third base...Also played 1.0 inning in left field on 5/29 at Baltimore (his first appearance in the outfield since 9/16/22)…Went 4-for-10 with a walk, two doubles and a sac fly as a pinch hitter...Batted .237 (40-for-169) with all six of his home runs vs. RHP and .094 (3- for-32) vs. LHP...Hit a three-run homer on 3/31 at Seattle... Was optioned to Triple-A Worcester on 5/2 after hitting .156 (14-for-90) with a homer and 11 RBI in 28 games with the Red Sox...Went 4-for-4 with three doubles on 5/5 vs. Lehigh Valley...Was recalled on 5/29...Went 3-for-4 with two home runs as the DH on 6/1 vs. Detroit...Homered again on 6/6 at Chicago (AL)…Hit safely in five straight games from 6/1-6 (7- for-20, .350)…Produced a .290 (18-for-62) average and a .977 OPS in 23 games with Boston in June...Was optioned back to Worcester on 7/9...Went 5-for-5 on 8/1 vs. Buffalo (Game 1)…Was recalled on 8/7 and went 1-for-6 in three games before being optioned back to Triple-A on 8/14...Was recalled a final time on 9/1 and spent remainder of the season with Boston.

2023

Made his MLB debut and appeared in 49 games over four stints with BOS...Made 44 starts, all at 2B...Among AL rookies with at least 100 PA, ranked 10th in AVG (.266), 13th in SLG (.453) and 16th in OPS (.764)...133 of his 149 PA came against RHP...Batted .280 (35- for-125) against righties (2-for-14, BB, HBP vs. LHP)...Slashed .292/.333/.510 with six HR and 18 RBI in night games, compared to .209/.261/.362 with zero HR and one RBI during the day...Batted .254 with an .864 OPS in 57 games for Triple-A Worcester (48-for-189, 8 2B, 2 3B, 10 HR, 41 RBI, 41 BB). 

2022

Split the season between the BOS and HOU systems... Hit .296 (148-for-500) with a .918 OPS, 92 runs, 35 2B, two 3B, 28 HR and 107 RBI. Played 44 games for Triple-A Worcester, 38 for Triple-A Sugar Land and 44 for Double-A Corpus Christi. Named to the 2022 MLB Pipeline Prospect Team of the Year (1st Team) at second base. Was one of four MiLB players with at least 35 2B, 25 HR, and 100 RBI during 2022 (see table on right). Set career highs in games played (126), runs (92), hits (148), doubles (35), HR (28), RBI (107), AVG (.296), OBP (.376), SLG (.542) and OPS (.918). Ranked among all minor leaguers in RBI (T-6th), total bases (8th, 271) and XBH (T-12th, 65). Led HOU minor leaguers in AVG (.327). In 82 games at the Triple-A level, hit .265 (88-for-332) with an .815 OPS, 52 runs, 19 2B, two 3B, 17 HR and 62 RBI. Hit multiple HR in a game four times: twice with Sugar Land and once each with Corpus Christi and Worcester. Posted a .309 AVG/.996 OPS against RHP compared to a .261 AVG/.703 OPS against LHP. Recorded 44 multi-hit games, including 16 with at least three hits, and two with a season-high four hits.
