Eric K. Bruntlett...graduated from Stanford in 3.5 years with a degree in economics...in 4 seasons at Stanford, hit .334 (153-for-457) with 34 doubles, 2 triples, 4 home runs and 74 RBI...twice helped the Cardinal reach the College World Series (1999, 2000)...is a 1996 graduate of Harrison (IN) High...was a 2-time All-Indiana selection...also played football at Harrison...member of National Honor Society...was drafted by LAD out of high school, but did not sign.

Batted .171 in 72 games with PHI...on August 23 at NYM, turned just the 14th unassisted triple play in MLB history, just the 2nd to end a ballgame (also DET John Neun, May 31, 1927 vs. CLE)...while manning 2B with a 9-7 lead in hand and runners on first and second base, snared Jeff Francoeur liner in stride (first out), stepped on second base (2nd out) and then tagged Daniel Murphy (3rd out)...the triple play was MLB's first to end a game since the Expos turned the trick September 8, 1991 vs. CIN thanks to a Bret Barberie-to-Delino DeShields-to-Tom Foley tri-killing.

Set career highs in games (120), hits (46), RBI (15), runs (37), walks (21), stolen bases (9) and at-bats (212)...Started 28 straight games at SS while Jimmy Rollins was on the DL, 4/9-5/7...Overall, made 48 starts: 30 at SS, 13 at 3rd base, 2 at 1st base, 2 at 2nd base and 1 in RF; also appeared in LF...Homered on 4/13 vs CHI, his first HR since 9/18/05, snapping his 292-AB homerless streak...Had a career-best 10-game hitting streak, 4/22-5/2 (.314, 11-35, 3 RBI)...Came in as a defensive replacement 29 times...Hit his 1st career playoff HR in Game 2 of the World Series, 10/23 at TB (David Price); it was the 22nd pinch-hit HR in WS history...Scored the game-winning runs in Games 3 & 5 of the World Series: walk-off run in the bottom of the 9th inning in Game 3, 10/25 vs TB, and as a pinch runner in the bottom of the 7th inning in Game 5, 10/29 vs TB.
