Pirates, PNC Bank announce winners of fifth annual Small Business Support Program
The Pittsburgh Pirates and PNC Bank are pleased to announce the 2024 recipients for Going to Bat for Small Business presented by PNC, which provides support to small businesses making a positive impact on the community with a marketing package valued up to $100,000 and an additional $5,000 for each business.
“These entrepreneurs demonstrated not just a drive to grow their businesses, but also a desire to create opportunities and bring about impactful change in their communities,” said Pirates President Travis Williams. “Bob [Nutting]’s initial vision for this program was to provide a platform for small local businesses to achieve these goals. We are proud to team up with PNC to recognize these businesses and to provide them with resources that will help them to do so.”
A variety of applications were received from across Allegheny County and neighboring counties. With a vision for growth and a commitment to the communities they serve, this year’s winners represented a diverse spectrum of industries including consulting, sustainable landscape solutions, food production and more.
The 2024 Going to Bat for Small Business recipients are Los Sabrosos Dance Co., a dance and fitness studio with a variety of dance styles available for kids and adults; TerraGreen, dedicated to transforming outdoor spaces with sustainable landscape solutions; Spectrum Fudge, creating gourmet fudge made by individuals with diverse abilities; Pyramid Pgh Marketing & Advertising Agency, delivering strategic communication, project management, and brand development to clients; Davis Consulting Solutions, providing business and workforce solutions through coaching, consulting, training and recruiting; and Bumbleberry Farms producing honey-based gourmet goods crafted by hand while empowering deaf individuals through its hiring and sourcing practices.
By the end of this season the program will have provided support and marketing resources to 30 area businesses over the course of five years. This year’s recipients were selected by a panel after providing a plan of how the program could help the growth of their business and the commitment they show to their communities.
“These are well-deserving businesses that have had a real impact on our community and the local economy,” said Lou Cestello, PNC regional president for Pittsburgh and Southwestern Pennsylvania. “PNC is honored to team up with the Pirates to play a small part in their continued success.”
