Graduated from American Heritage High School in Delray Beach, Florida...at the University of Florida became just the 12th player in school history to amass in his career 20 or more home runs, 100 or more RBI and 30 or more stolen bases...as a junior at Florida was named 2018 SEC Player of the Year after batting .365 with 16 HR, 40 RBIs and 11 stolen bases in 54 regular season games...that season, led the SEC with a .506 on-base percentage and a .730 slugging percentage, was a semifinalist for the prestigious Golden Spikes Award and the Dick Howser Trophy and was named to several All-America first teams (ABCA, Baseball America, D1baseball.com, NCBWA, Perfect Game)…played primarily third base for the Gators but also made several appearances at shortstop...in 2016 and 2017 played for the Harwich Mariners in the Cape Cod League...his mother, Elizabeth, was born in Colombia and lived there until she moved to the United States while in high school.

Missed 48g with a right hamstring strain suffered on 4/14 at LAD (9g from 4/15-4/25, 39g from 5/1-6/12)...From 8/16-9/4/g1 produced a career-high 16-game hitting streak, the longest by a Reds batter in 2022 (.355, 3 2b, 1 3b, 2hr, 8rbi, 12r, .444obp)....The 16-game hitting streak was part of a career-high 19-game on-base streak (8/9-9/4/g1, .324ba, .422obp, 3 2b, 1 3b, 2hr, 9rbi, 12r) that tied Kyle Farmer's (5/7-8/4) as the longest by a Reds batter in 2022....Produced 2 leadoff HR (6/21 vs LAD off Tony Gonsolin, 7/16 at StL off Miles Mikolas)....Beginning 8/16 made 28 of his last 42 starts batting second, his first career apps in that spot....His starts batting second snapped his streak of 159 consecutive starts batting leadoff, including each of his last 103 starts of 2021 (beginning 6/5) and each of his first 56 starts in 2022....Made 13 starts at designated hitter (14-45, .311, 2 2b, 1hr, 7rbi)....Late in the season was bothered by a left leg contusion...originally suffered the injury in his first plate appearance on 8/11 vs Cubs, in the Field of Dreams game, when he was hit by a Drew Smyly pitch...left the game in the fourth inning...following the game was air lifted to the hospital, spent the night in an Iowa City hotel before driving back to Cincinnati the next morning...missed 3 games before returning to start a career-high 16-game hitting streak...on 9/4 vs Col was hit by another foul ball in the same area on his left leg and missed the remainder of that game...Missed the game vs StL on 7/24 with a left thigh contusion but in the next day's 11-2 win vs Mia started at DH and for the third time in his career finished a triple shy of the cycle (3-4, 1 2b, 1hr, 4rbi)...in the fifth inning hit the first grand slam of his Major League career (off Zach Pop)....With 2 outs in the ninth inning on 7/12 at Yankee Stadium produced a 2-run single off Wandy Peralta that erased a 3-2 deficit and lifted the Reds to a 4-3 win...With 1 out in the ninth inning of the 3-2 win on 9/2 vs Col produced an infield single off Alex Colomé to drive in the game-ending run...was his first career walkoff hit.
