Graduated from Damien High School in La Verne, Calif., the same school attended by Mark McGwire, rock guitarist Buckethead and former Reds pitcher Frank Pastore...as a junior at Texas Christian University in 2019 was named second team All-American and first team All-Big 12...in 16 starts for the Horned Frogs that year produced a 2.36 ERA with 131 strikeouts over 103 innings, held opponents to a .203 batting average and posted a WHIP of just 0.98...at TCU was a teammate of LHP Brandon Williamson, who also was drafted in June 2019 and was acquired by the Reds in the six-player trade in March 2022 that sent 3B Eugenio Suárez and OF Jesse Winker to the Mariners.

Beginning 5/14 spent the rest of the season on the injured list with a stress reaction in his left tibia...missed the last 123 games...Was scratched from his last two scheduled starts, on 5/11 vs NYM and then 5/13 at Mia...On 5/14 went on the 15-day injured list with left calf tendinosis...An MRI on 5/15 showed a stress reaction in his left tibia...Was transferred to the 60-day injured list on 6/3, when OF TJ Hopkins was promoted...From 8/11-8/20 threw 7.1 innings covering three rehabilitation appearances...following his last rehab appearance, for Louisville on 8/20, an MRI revealed a recurrence of the stress reaction in his left tibia...On 8/25 was returned from the rehabilitation assignment and spent the rest of the season rehabbing in Cincinnati...Went 2-0, 2.12 in his first 3 starts and 0-1, 10.38 in his last four starts...Started the second game of the season and earned the 6-2 win vs the Pirates...On 4/8 at Phi, in his second start, his career-high 12 strikeouts were the most by a Reds lefthander since Amir Garrett had 12 strikeouts on 4/19/17 vs Bal...was Lodolo’s third career game with at least 10 strikeouts...became only the fourth Reds lefthander to record at least 7.0 scoreless innings with at least 12 strikeouts (Tom Hall on 5/14/72/g2 vs StL, Johnny Vander Meer five times, Rube Benton on 6/11/1915 vs Dodgers)...Was charged with one pitch timer violation (4/8 at Phi, Nick Castellanos batting).

In 13 starts at Class AA Chattanooga and Class AAA Louisville combined to finish 2-2, 2.31 (50.2ip, 38h, 11bb, 78k, 3hr, 0.97whip, .207baa)...While with the Lookouts was AA South Pitcher of the Month for May and Pitcher of the Week for 5/16-5/22...Pitched in Major League Baseball's SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game at Coors Field...threw a scoreless inning, including a strikeout of Top 10 prospect Julio Rodríguez...Following the season was rated #23 on Baseball America's prestigious Top 100 Prospects List...SS/OF Jose Barrero was at #21 and RHP Hunter Greene at #41...Spent time on the seven-day Injured Lists at Chattanooga in June and July (blister, left index finger) and at Louisville in August andSeptember (left shoulder strain)...made his final appearance of the season on 8/22...Began the season at Chattanooga...on 8/3 was promoted to Louisville...Was one of 18 players invited to early minor league Spring Training camp.

Spent the season at the alternate training site in nearby Mason as part of the Reds' 60-player pool roster...Entered the season rated by both MiLB.com and Baseball America the third-best prospect in the organization...Also entered the season rated No. 77 on Baseball America's prestigious Top 100 prospects list...RHP Hunter Greene (No. 76) was the only other Reds minor leaguer on that Top 100 list.
2019
In his first professional season went 0-1, 2.45 in eight starts for Rookie Billings and Class A Dayton....In 18.1 innings recorded 30 strikeouts without issuing a walk... Made his first six appearances for Billings before he was promoted to the Dragons on 7/22...Didn't pitch after 7/30, when his 121.1 innings total for the summer included his collegiate season at Texas Christian University.
