The Washington Nationals will host the 2018 Major League Baseball All-Star Summer this July, when the 89th All-Star Game is played at Nationals Park on Tuesday July 17, 2018. In addition to the All-Star Game presented by MasterCard, All-Star Summer festivities are highlighted by five days of events starting with MLB All-Star FanFest, SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game, All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game and the T-Mobile Home Run Derby.
Major League Baseball is looking for unpaid volunteers to assist with events surrounding the presentation of the 2018 Midsummer Classic. If you would like to apply, please fill out the form below completely. As an unpaid volunteer, you may receive exciting gifts including:

Steps to Become an Unpaid Volunteer
- Fill out the online registration form
- Create a volunteer profile on the volunteer management system (you will be provided with a website link to create your profile in May)
- Attend the volunteer information session at Nationals Park June 1 or June 2 (only need to attend one session)
- Select opportunities through the volunteer management system
- Pass the Major League Baseball background check
- Attend an additional information session in July if selected as an unpaid volunteer (Tuesday, July 10 or Wednesday, July 11)
All Major League Baseball Unpaid Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older as of the date of their online registration, and will be required to sign a release of liability, waiver of class or collective action claims, agreement to arbitrate claims and eligibility form. In addition, all applicants are subject to background checks. By continuing to complete and submit this registration form, you hereby agree to be subject to a background check in order to determine your eligibility to be an MLB All-Star Unpaid Volunteer. All volunteer opportunities are unpaid and do not entitle the volunteer to any employment benefits.
There are many opportunities to participate in the 2018 All-Star Summer events. Listed below are some of the opportunities. Please note that volunteer opportunities are NOT available for ballpark events. All volunteer opportunities are unpaid and do not provide any compensation or entitle the volunteer to any employment benefits. Major League Baseball will provide all volunteers with commemorative attire which includes a polo shirt, cap, and drawstring backpack.
MLB All-Star FanFest
The All-Star FanFest, which takes place July 13th - 17th at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, is the largest baseball interactive theme park in the world. With over 40 attractions and 400,000 square feet of baseball fun, unpaid volunteers will participate throughout the fan experiences. Some of the opportunities include:
- Fan waiver station
- Baseball attractions (includes batting cages, pitching cages, photo areas, video game areas, fielding stations, autograph stages)
As an unpaid volunteer at All-Star FanFest, you will help create the fan experience of the show. Certain opportunities for this event may require extended time standing, but we will accommodate any request to help make the experience memorable. To become a volunteer for All-Star FanFest, you will be asked to volunteer for three (3) opportunities throughout the five-day event. As a FanFest volunteer you will be able to attend MLB All-Star FanFest during show hours at no charge when you are not scheduled to volunteer.
Major League Baseball Transportation
As a transportation volunteer you will welcome Major League Baseball Guests, VIPs and staff to events throughout the city. Volunteers will not be drivers, but will be present at the transportation pick up/drop off locations and welcome guests to their final destinations.
MLB Gala and All-Star Pre-Game Celebration
MLB plays host to two major hospitality events during All-Star Week. The All-Star Gala is an event to celebrate the city of Washington DC and the Nationals for hosting the All-Star Game. This one-of-a-kind event showcases some of the finest local food, drinks and music of Washington DC. Volunteers will serve as gift distributors, ticket takers, event guides and welcome greeters. The All-Star Pre-Game Celebration is the second major hospitality event, which takes place before the All-Star Game. Similar to the All-Star Gala, volunteers may participate as gift distributors, ticket takers, event guides and welcome greeters.
