Buck Showalter says 'The Sandlot 2' is 'terrible'

Buck Showalter says 'The Sandlot 2' is 'terrible'

It's not even Thanksgiving yet, and Esquire has already caught March Madness. Even as the college basketball season is just beginning, they've organized a bracket and subsequent polls to determine the most inspiring coach in movie history (and didn't even bother to include Billy Heywood from "Little Big League").

As a part of this fancy new bracket, Esquire reached out to Orioles manager Buck Showalter to see if he had anything to say about the way Hollywood portrays baseball. He did, and as it turns out, he probably hates your favorite baseball movie, unless your favorite baseball movie is "The Sandlot."

Things we learned from Showalter's piece in Esquire:

- He doesn't like "Moneyball" (the movie and the philosophy)

- The best part of his day is when he hears the national anthem

- He thinks Robert Redford looked like a, um, natural hitter in "The Natural"

- He knows "Draft Day" is a football movie, but likes Kevin Costner and says it reminded him of the MLB Expansion Draft he took part in as manager of the D-backs

- His favorite baseball movie is "The Sandlot"

- He thinks "The Sandlot 2" was blasphemous

We're not saying we agree with all of Showalter's Hollywood hot takes, but we are saying that he could run for public office on a "'Sandlot 2' is blasphemy" platform.
