Freshman Drew Rasmussen throws perfect game for Oregon State Beavers

OSU freshman throws perfect game in 4th career start

Freshman pitcher Drew Rasmussen threw the first perfect game in Oregon State University history on Saturday in a 3-0 win over Washington State.

The D-backs selected Rasmussen in the 39th round of the 2014 MLB First-Year Player Draft, but the pitcher opted to commit to the Beavers rather than sign a big league contract.

The 19-year-old made his fourth college start on Saturday and needed just 103 pitches to mow through 27 Washington State batters in order.

He struck out 10 in the process.

Through eight appearances (four starts) with the Beavers, Rasmussen is 3-0 with a 1.36 ERA and 40 strikeouts in 39 2/3 innings. Looks like the kid's got the stuff.
