Garth Brooks takes BP with White Sox before playing back-to-back concerts in Chicago

Garth Brooks takes BP with White Sox

When people think of Chicago, they think of deep-dish pizza, Walter Payton, Al Capone, the Cubs, the White Sox and Jordan and the Bulls. They don't usually think of country music, but that might change this week.

Country music superstar Garth Brooks hails from Oklahoma, but opted to kick off his first world tour in 13 years with a show at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. When that show sold out in a matter of seconds, he added another ... and another ... and another ... until a full slate of 11 Chicago shows were on the schedule.

On Friday, Brooks had a concert scheduled to start at 6 p.m. and a late show on the docket for 10:30, but not that (nor the awful weather) could prevent him from stopping by U.S. Cellular field to sneak in a little BP with fellow Oklahoma State alum, ChiSox manager Robin Ventura.

Pretty impressive bat speed for a musician. Though, we shouldn't be all that impressed considering Brooks was a three-sport athlete in high school and earned a track scholarship at OSU (he threw javelin).
