Metallica, former Yankees stars honor Mariano Rivera at Yankee Stadium

In recognition of Mariano Rivera's 652 saves, five World Series rings and 19 remarkable seasons, the Yanks held a special ceremony before taking on the Giants.

Rivera walked out to his ceremony to the tunes of "Enter Sandman" ... performed live by Metallica.

The Yankees sent Mo rocking away into the sunset.

Metallica gave the closer a 42-inspired amp.

Teammates old and new took the field to honor baseball's all-time saves leader.

After having his number retired, Rivera received a hug from the wife of the man who first made 42 famous. 

Finally, Mo delivered a speech to the Bronx faithful, and made sure to thank his parents for having him.

Yes. They did make a good one.
