Remembering Michael Clarke Duncan: Oscar-nominated actor, White Sox fan and Disco Demolition participant

The world said goodbye to legendary actor Michael Clarke Duncan on Monday. Many knew his incredible talent for acting, but far fewer were aware of his love of baseball.

Duncan had an especially close connection to the Chicago White Sox. The South Side Chicagoan partook in the notorious Disco Demolition Night at Comiskey Park back in 1979. A 21-year-old Duncan rushed the field, slid into third base and stole a bat from the White Sox dugout.

Also, because of his love for the Sox and James Earl Jones-esque voice, Duncan was asked to narrate the ChiSox 2005 World Series DVD.

While Duncan's time on this planet was far too short, his legacy will certainly live on forever in hearts and minds of baseball fans everywhere.
