Emil Quincy Brown graduated from Harlan (Chicago, Ill.) High...helped his baseball team win the city championship in 1992 and 1993...Attended Indian River Community College (Fort Pierce, Fla.).
2007
Made his 3rd straight Opening Day roster...struggled at the plate for most of the year, but ended up hitting .257 with 6 home runs and led the team with 62 RBI despite playing only 113 games...marked the third consecutive season he led the team in RBI...Recorded an RBI every 5.9 at bats, besting his totals from the past 2 seasons (1/6.3 in 2005 and 1/6.5 in 2006)...Equaled his career high with 12 stolen bases in 14 attempts (also 2001 w/ PIT and SD)...Pounded right-handed pitchers with a .317 (46-for-145) average...hit .316 (37- for-117) with runners in scoring position...Just like the past 2 seasons, struggled getting out of the gate, hitting .186 (13-for-70) with 3 doubles, no home runs and 5 RBI in 22 games in April...Hit .200 (25-for-125) with 1 home run and 15 RBI in April and May combined before hitting .290 (20-for-69) with 2 homers and 15 RBI in June alone...Slumped to .233 (14-for-60) in July, but rebounded to hit .297 (19-for-64) in August and .333 (16-for-48) in September...Hit .333 (17-for-51) with a homer and 15 RBI in Interleague play and now has a .377 (66-for-175) average against the N.L. since 2005, the third-highest average in baseball behind Magglio Ordonez (.422) and Alex Rodriguez (.379)...Tied a career high (3rd time) swiping 2 bases on May 12 at Chicago...Failed to homer in his first 31 games with a plate appearance this season and 33 dating to 2006, the longest homerless stretch of his Royals career and longest stretch since a 43-game stretch from May 2, 2001 to April 6, 2005...Hit the go-ahead 3-run home run, his 1st of the season, in the 8th inning on May 18 at Colorado...Hit a game-winning sac fly in the 11th inning of a 3-2 win over Seattle on July 2...Equaled his career high by recording 4 hits on Aug. 25 vs. Cleveland (also June 11, 2005 at Arizona).

Posted the best season of his career, recording career-highs in average (.287, 151-527), doubles (41) and walks (59)...Led the team in total bases (241) and RBI (81) for the 2nd-straight season... also led the team in games played (147) and walks...His career-high 41 doubles were the most by a Royal since Carlos Beltran hit 44 in 2002...Recorded 10 sacrifi ce fl ies, tied for 4th-most in the American League, 1 shy of the league lead...was tied for 11th-most in a single season in club history, the most by a Royal since Raul Ibanez had 10 in 2003...Tied for 8th in the American League with 10 outfield assists...Hit .308 (114-370) against right-handed pitchers, but hit just .236 (37-157) against left-handers...was a .302 (76-252) hitter at home, compared to a .273 hitter (75-275) on the road...9 of his 15 homers came on the road...Hit .325 (26-80) with runners in scoring position and less than 2 outs...hit only 2 of his 15 home runs with runners in scoring position...Steadily raised his average through each of the season's 1st 3 months, hitting .227 (17-75) in April, .284 (27-95) in May and .329 (28-85) in June...also posted a solid month in August, hitting .327 (32-98)...Hit .296 (134-452) after his slow April...Played 87 games in left field, 54 in right and 10 as the designated hitter...Hit .407 during Interleague Play with a .471 OBP and .593 slugging percentage... brought his Interleague average up to .395 over the last 2 seasons, which is tops in MLB among players with over 100 at bats...Drove in a run in 6 straight games (9 total) from Aug. 4-11...went 10-for-19 (.526) with 7 runs scored, 2 doubles and 3 homers during the stretch...his 3 home runs came in a 4-game stretch from Aug. 5-10...Drove in 19 runs during a 22-game stretch from July 27 to Aug. 19...Had a pair of season-best 7-game hitting streaks...his 1st came May 19-25 where he hit .417 (10-for-24)...his 2nd 7-game hitting streak came Aug. 14-19, where he batted .370 (10-for-27)...KC was 0-7 during 1st streak and 4-3 during 2nd...Hit .325 (69-212) from May 28 to Aug. 10 with 16 doubles and 41 RBI in those 57 games...raised his average from .242 to .290 during that stretch.

Was 1 of 2 non-roster invites to make the Opening Day roster out of spring training (also Alberto Castillo)...Turned in his 1st complete Major League season and led the Royals in runs (75) and RBI (86) and fi nished 2nd in hits (156), homers (17), doubles (31) and slugging percentage (.455)...his season totals surpassed his previous career totals...Posted a .313 average (57-182) against lefthanded pitchers and a .273 average (99-363) against right-handers...21 of his 31 doubles came off right-handers...Hit .310 (62-200) in 54 games in the 4th spot in the order...batted .279 (73-262) in 71 games in the 5th spot in the order...Overcame a .161 average in the month of April (9-56) by hitting .301 (147-489) the remainder of the season...Was tied for 7th in the American League with 9 outfi eld assists...Recorded his 1st Major League home run since May 1, 2001 at San Francisco when he went deep in the 9th inning off Detroit's Troy Percival on April 7...Broke an 0-for-21 streak at Minnesota on April 21 with 2 hits, including his 3rd homer of the season, a 2-run shot to tie the game in the 6th inning...Hit .343 (58-169) with 5 HR and 31 RBI from May 5 to June 28 to raise his average from .169 to .298...Recorded 9 putouts on May 17 vs. Baltimore, 1 shy of the Royals record for an outfi elder held by Amos Otis and Carlos Beltran...Set a career high with 4 hits on June 11 at Arizona...also recorded 3 doubles in the game for the 1st time in his career and scored 3 runs...Tied for 11th in the Majors hitting .385 (25-65) with 16 RBI in Interleague play...his 16 RBI were tied for 4th in MLB and his 25 hits were tied for 5th-most...Recorded a team season-high and career-high 16-game hitting streak from June 11-29...he hit .391 (25-64) with 13 runs scored during the streak...the streak tied for the 17th-longest by a Royal and is the longest single season streak since Joe Randa's 16-game streak (8/17- 9/3/03)...Posted a .345 average (39-113) over a 30-game stretch from June 11-July 19, recording 18 runs, 7 doubles and 13 RBI...Was named Royals Player of the Month in June...hit .366 (34-93) with 18 runs, 6 doubles, 3 homers, 16 RBI and 2 stolen bases...Reached base safely in 30 of his fi nal 31 games leading up to the All-Star break with 39 hits, 9 walks and 2 HBP during that time...Posted a 10-game hitting streak from July 6-19, hitting .342 (13-38) with 1 HR and 4 RBI.

Began the 2004 season in the Cardinals organization at Memphis (AAA)... appeared in 19 games before signing with Campeche in the Mexican League...hit .317 with 8 homers and 24 RBI before Houston signed him to a minor league deal...finished the season hitting .337 in 26 games at New Orleans (AAA).
2001
Split time between Pittsburgh and San Diego...played 61 games for the Pirates before he was traded to San Diego for pitcher Shawn Camp and outfielder Shawn Garrett on July 10, 2001.
2000
Spent the majority of the season with Nashville (AAA), hitting .312 with 20 doubles, 5 home runs and 25 RBI in 70 games...saw 3 stints with Pittsburgh being recalled on May 16, June 13 and July 21...was placed on the 15-day D.L. during his 2nd tour on June 19 (urological surgery)...Notched a career-high 4 RBI and hit his 1st homer of the season vs. San Diego, July 28...homered again the following night, giving him 6 RBI in 2 games...Led the Pacifi c Coast League as the league's most profi cient base stealer with 26 stolen bases in 30 attempts (.867 percent)...led all Sounds outfi elders with 9 assists.
1999
Spent full season with Nashville, his 1st action at the Triple-A level...hit .307 with 20 doubles, 18 home runs and 60 RBI...led the club and ranked 5th in the PCL in runs scored (97)...Was recalled by Pittsburgh on Sept. 24 and pinch hit that night at Chicago...started in left at Chicago on Sept. 26 and went 1-for-5...overall was 2-for-14 in 6 games for the Pirates.

Spent a full season with Carolina (AA) and was named to the Double-A All-Star Team...hit .330 (154- 466) with 31 doubles, 14 home runs and 67 RBI in 123 games...Ranked 2nd in the Southern League in batting and 3rd in the Pirates minor league system...led the club in games, runs (89), doubles and stolen bases (24)...hit .350 (105-300) in his fi nal 77 games...Was recalled by Pittsburgh on Sept. 1 and went 10-for-39 (.256) in 13 games.

Spent his 1st full season at the Major League level after being selected in the Rule 5 Draft on Dec. 9, 1996....Made his Major League debut on April 3 at San Francisco and flied out as a pinch hitter...made his 1st big league start (LF) on April 8 at San Diego and collected his 1st hit off Fernando Valenzuela...Hit his 1st Major League home run on May 28, 1997 off Chicago's Terry Mulholland.
