2005
Spent the entire season with Durham (AAA), batting .233 in 79 games with five home runs and 26 RBI...ended the season with a four-game hitting streak, including two multi-hit games...went 7-for-18 (.388) in that stretch...recorded an RBI in each of his last three games of the season...was 3-for-5 with two home runs and four RBI on September 3 at Charlotte.
2004
Spent much of the season in the Montreal system, playing 69 games for Edmonton (AAA)...batted .289 with one home run, 20 RBI, and 14 doubles...had a season-high four hits on May 28 against Sacramento...drove in a season-high four runs on 24 at Tucson...released by Montreal on August 11...signed by Tampa Bay a week later and finished the season at Durham, batting .296 (16-for-54) in 16 games.

Hoover had his first go-around with the Marlins in 2003, playing the entire season in Albuquerque...batted .270 in 89 games, his highest season average since 1999...set a career high with 22 doubles...hit .364 (16-for-44) in August...had a season-high four RBI on August 4 against Memphis...batted .354 (28-for-79) with runners in scoring position and .343 (12-for-35) with runners in scoring position and two outs.
2002
Appeared in five games for Tampa Bay over two stints, batting .176 (3-for-17) with two RBI...spent the rest of the season in Durham, batting .220 in 69 games...missed the beginning of the season on the disabled list with a strained right quadriceps muscle suffered in spring training.
2001
Made his Major League debut for Tampa Bay with a pinch-hit single off Oakland's Luis Vizcaino on August 8...had been selected from Durham that day to replace an injured John Flaherty...made his only start of the season on September 23, catching a 1-0 shutout win at Toronto...became the first catcher on the winning end of a 1-0 shutout in his first career start since Angels's John Orton did so on August 20, 1989...caught fellow rookie Joe Kennedy that night, making them the first rookie battery to win a 1-0 shutout since Montreal's Tony Armas Jr. and Brian Schneider did it September 12, 2000.

Spent most of the season with Orlando (AA), playing every position except for center field and pitcher...named to the Southern League's annual All-Star team as best utility player...set a career high with 67 walks...finished season at Durham, going 3-for-10 in four games.
