Spent the majority of season with the SEA organization before being acquired by the Nationals in a mid-September trade...played in 19 games at the big league level, including 6 with Washington, in 2009...recorded first NL hit, a single off Derek Lowe, on September 29 vs. ATL.
2008
For 2nd straight campaign, spent entire season with SEA as back-up catcher...in 15th inning on July 6 vs. DET, took the mound allowing one run on one hit (Miguel Cabrera double) in 1.0 inning...allowed Cabrera's double and threw a wild pitch before retiring the final 3 batters faced...took the loss as DET won, 2-1, and became only the 3rd position player since 1969 to pitch and take a loss...became the first true catcher to take a loss in a game since 1901 (Hall-of-Famer Roger Bresnahan of the Baltimore Orioles)...was also the first AL position player to earn a decision since Rocky Colavito worked 2.2 scoreless innings to earn a win for NYY in first game of Aug. 25, 1968 twinbill vs. DET.
