Wesley (Wes) Mitchell Obermueller...married to Jodie...has a son, Cade Mitchell...graduated from the University of Iowa in 1999 with a degree in Commercial Recreation...was an outfielder in college until his senior season with the Hawkeyes...was a Second Team All-American at Kirkwood (IA) Community College.

2006

Started the season with Richmond (AAA) in Atlanta's minor league system...made only two appearances (both starts) coming April 4 and 12, before being released by the Braves on April 17...Atlanta sold his contract to the Orix Buffaloes of Japan's Pacific Baseball League...Posted a 1-6 record with a 5.31 ERA for Orix, making 14 appearances (10 starts)...made his first appearance for Orix on May 14 against the Yakult Swallows, receiving the loss...after losing his first two starts, earned his first and only win of the season against the Hiroshima Toyo Carp on May 24...lost his next four starts before being removed from the rotation following a 2-1 loss to the Chiba Lotte Marines on August 16...Orix finished the season in fifth place in the Pacific League with a 52-81-3 record.

2005

Started the season on the Brewers' 25-man roster and went 1-4 with a 5.26 ERA in 23 games. ... Made his first five appearances in the relief role before making his first start on 4/30 vs. Cincinnati, when he struck out a season-high five batters (no decision). ... Picked up his first win of the season on 5/17 at Washington, pitching eight scoreless innings while striking out four and allowing only two hits; he didn't allow a hit in the game until the seventh inning. ... Optioned to Triple-A Nashville on 7/19. ... Appeared in nine games--eight were starts--for the Sounds and went 3-1 with a 2.55 ERA. ... Recalled from Nashville on 9/1. ... Made two starts upon returning and suffered the loss in each (9/3 vs San Diego and 9/17 at Houston).

Began the season with the Kansas City Royals Triple A affiliate in Omaha prior to his acquisition by the Brewers ... went the distance on May 24 at Nashville ... pitched his second complete game of the season on June 20 at Fresno ... won seven of his last nine decisions at Omaha ...acquired by Milwaukee along with infielder Alejandro Machado from the Royals on July 2 in exchange for pitcher Curtis Leskanic ... reported to Triple A Indianapolis ... recalled from Indy on July 25 and made his Brewers' debut that night ... picked up first ML hit July 25 at Colorado singling off Chin-Hui Tsao ... snapped career-high seven-game losing streak dating back to September 20, 2002, with his first Major League win on September 21 against Curt Schilling and the Arizona Diamondbacks at Miller Park ... won his second straight start in his season finale September 27 at Houston in a nationally televised game.

Opened the season at Class A Wilmington, going 5-0 with a 2.76 ERA in eight games before being promoted to Double A Wichita ... went 9-5 with a 2.90 ERA for Wichita in 17 games ... was named Texas League Pitcher of the Week for August 19-25 ... his 2.90 ERA would have ranked 2nd in the Texas League, however he fell short of the minimum innings pitched by 6.1 innings ... ranked among Royals organizational leaders in wins (3rd, 14), ERA (5th, 2.86) and strikeouts (3rd, 109) ... his contract was purchased on September 20 by the Royals and made his debut that day against Cleveland ... took the loss in that game, allowing four runs in 3.2 innings of work ... made his second and final start of the season for the Royals on September 27 at Cleveland suffering an 8-3 setback ... posted an 0-2 record alongside a 11.74 ERA in two starts.
