Attended the University of Arizona where he was named team MVP and First-Team All-Pac-10 South as a senior...became the first wildcat to collect as many as 14 home runs and 14 steals in a single season...resides in Tucson, Arizona.

Batted .360 at Triple-A New Orleans, ranking sixth in the Pacific Coast League...Appeared in 24 games for the Astros on three separate occasions. Made six starts - three in center and three in right...Batted .368 in the month of July at New Orleans and hit .385 in 12 games in August...Made his Major League debut on 5/30 and pinch-hit at CHI. Made his first start on 5/31 at CHI playing right field and recorded his first big league hit in the eighth inning...Was recalled from Triple-A on 7/27. Recorded the first pinch-hit of his career on 8/9 vs. MON...Made his third trip to the big leagues on 9/2 and appeared in nine games down the stretch.

Led the new Orleans club in games (134), at-bats (461), hits (122) and stolen bases (28)...had a nine game hitting-streak 8/11-20 in which he batted .471 (16-for-34).

Split the year between Double-A Round Rock and Triple-A New Orleans...spent just a month in Round Rock before being promoted to New Orleans...batted .320 in 25 games at AA...struggled in his first taste at Triple-A, playing in 101 games and hitting .237 with seven HR and 33 RBI.

Played Double-A ball at Round Rock in the Texas League...hit .333 in both June and August...was 4-for-4 with two RBI on 5/22 vs. El Paso...scored three times on 7/15 at San Antonio, going 2-for-3 with a home run...recorded four hits and had three RBI on 8/14 at Tulsa.
1999
Was named a Midwest League All-Star playing in 127 games...batted .324 at home and stole a team-high 23 bases...went 3-for-3 and reached base five times (two walks) on 4/25 vs. Lansing with a double and home run and four RBI...recorded five RBI on 5/20 at Peoria with a 3-for-5 day and one home run.
