Graduated from Clark (Las Vegas, NV) High School...attended Stanford University...father, Fred, was head baseball coach at UNLV from 1974-96 and owned 794-558-2 mark (.587)...father coached former Giants great Matt Williams during his collegiate days...married (Kimberly Downey, Feb. 6, 1998)...daughter (Mandi Dawn, Sept. 4, 2001)...31-year-old infielder made Major League debut in 2004 after spending 9 seasons in minor leagues...represented Fresno in 2004 triple-A All-Star game in Pawtucket, RI...2003 Pacific Coast League batting champion owns .293 career batting avg. with 184 2Bs, 23 3Bs, 47 HRs and 403 RBI over 919 lifetime minor league contests...belted grand slam for 1st ML hit April 30 vs. Florida (off Dontrelle Willis), becoming just 2nd San Francisco Giant to accomplish feat...Bobby Bonds hit bases loaded clout June 25, 1968 vs. LA...in fact, became just 5th player since 1974 to accomplish feat, joining Texas' Mike Cubbage (1975), Seattle's Orlando Mercado (1982), Boston's Creighton Gubanich (1999) and Philadephia's Chase Utley (2003)...was originally Houston's 9th round pick in 1996 First-Year Player Draft...also played in Arizona organization (2000-02). **A GIANT IN THE COMMUNITY:** Spoke to 100 female youth athletes prior to National Pro Fastpitch clinic at SBC Park in 2004...participated in Olympian Night at SBC Park with 2004 US Olympians.

Enjoyed solid season, splitting time with triple-A Fresno and San Francisco... overall for big league club, posted .279 (12-for-43) avg. with 8 runs, 2 2Bs, HR and 7 RBI...after 9 seasons in minor leagues, had contract purchased from Fresno April 28, taking roster spot of disabled Ray Durham...made ML debut April 29 vs. Florida, grounding out to shortstop in pinch-hitting role...in 1st ML start (at 3B) hammered grand slam for 1st ML hit April 30 vs. Florida (off Dontrelle Willis)...finished spectacular night going 3-for-3 with walk and HBP...overall in 1st stint in big leagues, batted .235 (8-for-34) and started 7 games (3 at 3B, 4 at 2B), hitting safely in 5 starts and plating at least 1 run in 4 of 7 contests...was sent back down to Grizzlies May 13, but was recalled May 25 when Durham landed on Disabled List again...was recalled again Sept. 1 and chipped in with 3- for-8 effort for SF down stretch, including 4 runs and 2 2Bs...earned 1st All-Star Game appearance, representing Grizzlies at triple-A All-Star Game in Pawtucket, RI, going 1-for-2...garnered Fresno's MVP honors after batting .324 (140-for-432) with 72 runs scored, 21 2Bs, 4 3Bs, 8 HRs, 67 RBI, 40 walks and 9 stolen bases over 111 games...was named Grizzlies Player of Month for Aug...was selected as recipient of Harry S. Jordan Award, which honors best 1st year player in big league camp.

Won Pacific Coast League batting title, hitting career-best .352, during 1st year in Giants organization...became 1st player in Fresno history to earn title, while establishing club record for highest avg...Calvin Murray's .334 clip in 1999 was previous high...last Giants farmhand to win PCL batting title was Jacob Cruz (.361) of Phoenix Firebirds in 1997...also paced PCL with .427 on-base pct...played mostly 2B for Grizzlies (68 games), while also appearing at 3B (20) and in OF (1)...was named Fresno's Player of Month for Aug.

Reached triple-A level during final year in Arizona system...hit .294 with 6 HRs and 50 RBI in 122 contests for Tucson...was versatile on infield, seeing action at 3B (99 games), 2B (19) and SS (2), while playing 8 contests in OF.
2001
Was selected as utility player fo Texas League All-Star team, while playing for double-A El Paso...was 2nd on club in avg. (.327) and hits (169)...was TL's toughest hitter to strikeout, fanning only once every 10.23 plate appearances, while ranking 3rd with 38 2Bs.
2000
Split season between Houston and Arizona organizations after being acquired by D-Backs April 20 in exchange for C Josh McAffee...after playing in only 5 games for Round Rock, hit .278 with 16 2Bs, 3B, 4 HRs and 53 RBI for El Paso...finished 2nd on club with 17 stolen bases...hit .429 (6-for-14) with 2 steals during Texas League playoffs.
1999
Split year between single-A Kissimmee and double-A Jackson...combined to hit .268 (87-for-325) with 15 2Bs, 3B, 5 HRs and 22 RBI.

Logged entire campaign at Kissimmee, hitting .254 while playing both 2B and 3B.
