Made his last start of the year arguably his best as he worked seven scoreless innings September 20 at New York, allowing just three hits and striking out two...He held the Chicago White Sox scoreless over eight innings in his start on April 26 at U.S. Cellular Field, scattering three hits without walking a batter...No Sox runners reached second base while Burres was in the game...Blanked the New York Yankees over 5.2 innings April 19 to pick up his second win of the season...SPLITS: Was 4-6 with a 7.25 ERA (67.0IP, 54ER) in 19 games at home (12 starts) and was 3-4 with a 4.74 ERA (62.2IP, 33ER) in 12 games on the road (10 starts)...After not having allowed an extra-base hit to a left-handed batter through his first nine starts, he allowed five on May 27 (including homers by Jason Giambi, Johnny Damon and Bobby Abreu)...Won consecutive starts twice April 19-26 against New York and at Chicago (also won consecutive starts May 26-31, 2007 against Oakland and at Los Angeles)...Did not allow a home run in his last eight outings after serving up 17 over his first 23 appearances...Lasted just 1.2 innings July 25 against Los Angeles as he allowed five earned runs on seven hits and a walk...Over two outings from July 25-30 against Los Angeles and New York, he allowed nine earned runs on 11 hits and a walk in 3.0 innings pitched...Was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk on August 1 where he went 1-0 with a 0.82 ERA in four appearances (one start).
