Brian David Barden ... Brian and his wife Ashley have a daughter, Averie (2/12/07) ... is a graduate of St. Augustine High School in San Diego, Calif., and played college ball at Oregon State University, where he was a Pac-10 All-Conference selection in his final season.
2010
Made the Marlins' Opening Day roster, but appeared in 35 games, including just 4 starts, before being designated for assignment on July 3 ... cleared waivers and was outrighted to New Orleans (AAA) for the duration of the season on July 8 ... elected free agency on Oct. 6.

Batted .179 (5-28) with no extra-base hits and 3 RBI ... hit .273 (3-11) in his 4 starts ... was 2-for-6 (.333) with a walk as a pinch-hitter ... longest stretch without playing was 8 team games, although he only went 5+ team games without playing on two occasions ... made just one start in team's first 34 contests ... had pinch RBI single with 2 outs in 9th on May 12 at Chicago-NL off Carlos Marmol, making it a one-run game in eventual 4-3 Marlins loss at Wrigley ... other 2 RBI came in start on May 18 vs. Arizona, his former club, a bases loaded hit by pitch to break a scoreless tie and also an RBI single in 8-0 win for Fish ... last big league game was July 2 at Atlanta.

Began the campaign on St. Louis' Opening Day roster, marking the second of his career (also 2007 with Arizona). Enjoyed three stints with the Cardinals...Earned National League Rookie of the Month honors in April by batting .385 (15x39) with three home runs and seven RBI in 21 games. He led all NL rookies in slugging percentage (.641) and was second in on-base percentage (.432)...Tallied a career-high three hits on April 16 at Chicago (NL). Tied the mark with three hits on April 25 vs. Chicago...Hit first career home run on April 13 at Arizona, a solo shot off Doug Davis. Homered in consecutive games, April 16 & 17 at Chicago...Made appearances at second base (one game), third base (46 games) and shortstop (four games). Recorded at least one plate appearance in every spot in the order except third...With Memphis, posted a .267 average with four home runs and 28 RBI in 61 games...Marked a season-high with four hits on July 16 at Omaha...Posted a .417 average (15x36) when leading off an inning...Appeared at every position except center field, pitcher and catcher.
2008
Enjoyed solid season at Memphis (AAA) and capped the year off with bronze medal at Olympic Games in Beijing, China. ...With the exception of the Olympics, played the bulk of year at Triple-A Memphis, where he batted .285 (117-411) with 9 HRs and 35 RBI in 103 games while playing the majority of the season at shortstop (92 games). ...Took home the bronze medal as part of Team USA at the Olympics. He went 9-for-34 (.265) with a team-high 8 runs, a HR and five RBI for USA. Started and played in eight of the nine games. ...Had his contract purchased from Memphis (AAA) 9/2. Played in nine September games for St. Louis and made his lone start (at 2B) of season on 9/12 at PIT. ...Was the Cards Minor League Player of the Month for May after batting .377 (40-106) with 17 runs, 2 HR, 13 RBI and a .460 on-base pct. in 27 games.
2007
Acquired by St. Louis via waiver claim on 8/13 from the Arizona Diamondbacks and reported to Memphis (AAA) before joining the Major League club on 9/4...made two starts for the Cards during the final month and played in 15 games, including 10 of the team's final 15...played at second, short and third for St. Louis...hit .397 with eight doubles, two homers and seven RBI in 28 spring training games for ARI and opened the season on the Diamondbacks Major League roster for the first time in his career ...made his ML debut on 4/3 at COL, grounding out as a PHer in the 11th...made his lone start for ARI at third base on 4/8 at WSH and picked up his first Major League hit...went 0-6 as PH for D-Backs before being optioned on 4/16...recalled for one day on 5/2 and went 0-2 as starting third baseman..optioned back to Tucson (AAA) on 5/3...at Tucson played mostly third base (50 games), but also made appearances at all other infield positions: 1B-2 games, 2B-19 and SS-16...his best month was June when he went 34-95 (.358) and had a 12-game hitting streak in which he hit .468 (22-47)...after waiver claim by St. Louis, reported to Memphis and played 12 games at short and six at third while with the Redbirds...recalled from Memphis (AAA) on 9/4 and appeared in his first STL game on 9/5, grounding out in a PH-AB.
2006
In 2006 he ranked second in the D-Backs' system with 35 doubles, 96 RBI and 236 total bases, tied for second with 128 games played, third with 147 hits and fourth with 80 runs scored and 16 home runs...among all triple-A hitters, was tied for fifth in doubles, seventh in RBI and tied for seventh in hits...took home consecutive Pacific Coast League Player of the Week honors from July 10-23...in week one, posted a .600 average (9x15) with two home runs and six RBI in four games...from July 17-23, hit .357 (10x28) with three home runs and 17 RBI in seven games...earned the organizations Player of the Month award for July, batting .406 (41x101) with nine home runs and 39 RBI.
2005
In 2005, ranked fourth in the PCL with 159 hits and tied for third with 36 doubles, while leading all league third basemen with 115 games played.
2004
His 2004 campaign began with double-A El Paso, where he earned Texas League Player of the Week honors from May 10-16, hitting .560 (14x25)...despite playing only two months with El Paso, he was one shy of the club lead in doubles with 30.
2003
Spent his first time on the disabled list from June 14-30 with a left hand capsular strain ... prior to the season, was selected by Baseball America as one of the top 30 prospects in the organization.
2002
Was named the third baseman on the Cal League's 2002 postseason All-Star team and pegged by Sportsticker as one of the league's top prospects ... was promoted to Lancaster on June 25 ... finished the year with a 16-game hitting streak Aug. 15-31.
