Michael Christopher Cervenak
Michael Christopher (Mike) Cervenak graduated from Divine Child High School (MI) before earning his degree in movement science in 1999 from the University of Michigan...Was a three-time All-Big Ten selection...Holds the record for career hits at Michigan...Was a teammate with Mets pitcher Pat Misch in the minor leagues while in the San Francisco Giants organization...Drafted in the 43rd round of the June, 1998 Free Agent Draft by Oakland but elected to return to Michigan for his senior year.
2009
Appeared in 119 games for Lehigh Valley (AAA) of the International League, making the IL All-Star Game for the second straight season...Finished second in the league with 36 doubles...Had five consecutive two-hit games, July 9th-July 18th...Collected four hits on September 5th and September 6th vs. Buffalo...They were his second and third four-hit games of the season...Hit .483 (14-29) in eight September games...Hit .330 with 13 doubles, 11 home runs and 48 RBI in 67 games for Tomateros de Culiacan in the Mexican Winter League.
2008
Finished fifth in the International League in batting average and led Lehigh Valley in multi-hit games (43)...Made 112 starts: 38 at third base, 21 at first base, 12 in rightfield and 41 at DH...Hit safely in 18 consecutive games from May 16th-June 3rd...Hit .423 with 13 RBI during the streak...Named to the International League All-Star team...Had his contract purchased by the Phillies on July 10th and made his major league debut the next day vs. Arizona as a pinch-hitter...Optioned back to Lehigh Valley on July 20th before being recalled on July 29th...Picked up his first major league hit and RBI on August 6th vs. Florida (off Doug Waechter)...Optioned to Lehigh Valley on August 16th and recalled a second time on September 2nd...Made his first major league start, September 28th vs. Washington, at third base.

Spent the season with Norfolk (AAA) of the International League and played 96 games at first base, 24 at third base and two in leftfield...Led the International League in hits, at-bats and games...Finished fourth in total bases (235)...Had five consecutive multi-hit games, April 16th-April 21st...Hit .522 (12-23) with two home runs and four RBI over that span.

Signed with the Kia Tigers of the Korean Baseball League and began the season there...Batted .224 (32-143) with 4 homers and 15 RBI in 40 games before being released in mid-June...Returned to the United States and re-signed with the San Francisco Giants organization and was assigned to AAA Fresno...Went 2-for-5 in each of his first 2 games, June 26-27 at Sacramento...Hit safely in 11 of his first 12 games after being activated by Fresno, batting .413 (19-46)...Hit .360 in his first 26 games through July 23, but went 14-for-75 with 3 multi-hit games over his next 19 games, dropping his average to .286 on August 12...Raised his average to .297 on three occasions after that, the last after going 3-for-4 with 2 homers and 6 RBI on 8/28 vs. Portland...Had multi-hit games in 12 of his first 26 games, including three 3-hit games and a 4-for-4 outing on July 17 vs. Salt Lake City...Had 9 multi-hit games in his last 23 contests starting August 13, including 4 threehit games...Played primarily third base but also made 10 starts at first base and one each at second base and DH...Played in 8 games for the Lara Cardinals in the Venezuelan Winter League following the season, batting .259 (7-27) with 6 RBI.

Went to spring training as a non-roster invitee with San Francisco before spending the season at AAA Fresno...Was 2nd in the Pacific Coast League with 103 RBI in his first full-season at the AAA level...Batted at least .282 in each month of the season, combining to hit .351 (68-194) in June and July...Went 8-for-50 from 5/14 through 5/26, dropping his average from .305 to a low of .264...Batted .500 (17-34) over his next 8 games to raise his average to .302...Had a pair of 4-hit games, 7/28 at Nashville and 8/21 at Tacoma, as well as 11 three-hit games...Also had a pair of 11-game hitting streaks...Twice drove in 5 runs, 5/17 vs. Oklahoma and 7/20 vs. Salt Lake City...Played primarily first base for first 3 months of the season before gradually shifting exclusively to third base in mid- August...Batted .338 with runners in scoring position, .345 with runners on base and .357 with bases loaded.

Won San Francisco organization's triple crown, leading all Giants' farmhands with a .328 average, 26 HRs and 98 RBI over 120 games at AA Norwich and AAA Fresno...Established career highs in all 3 categories, while also setting personal best with 149 hits and matching his high with 37 doubles...Began his 4th season at Norwich and earned Eastern League All-Star honors after leading the circuit in on-base pct. (.414), while ranking 3rd in average (.337), 3rd in slugging (.583), 4th in 2Bs (36), 6th in extra-base hits (68) and 8th in RBI (88)...Promoted in mid-August to Fresno, his first action at the AAA level, and belted 5 homers with 10 RBI in 10 games...Played for the Grand Canyon Rafters in Arizona Fall League, batting .274 with 2 HRs and 19 RBI in 22 games.
2003
Led the San Francisco farm system with 91 RBI and was 2nd with 20 homers, ranking 3rd and 4th, respectively, in the Eastern League...Spent the entire season at AA Norwich, batting .270 with 26 doubles in an All-Star campaign...Was selected by the Giants from the New York Yankees organization in Minor League Rule V Draft on 12/16/02.

Played in 134 games for AA Norwich, then the AA affiliate of the New York Yankees...Finished 3rd in the Eastern League with 56 extra-base hits, while ranking 4th in both HR (21) and RBI (91).
