He, his wife Paige and daughter Kenzie reside in Sherwood, Ore., during the offseason...Batted .322 (66-for-205) with 38 runs scored, 12 doubles, 10 home runs and 46 RBI at the University of Portland in 2002...Hit .338 (66-for-195) with 42 runs scored, 18 doubles, 13 home runs and 55 RBI at the University of Portland in 2003.

Spent the entire 2009 season with Triple-A Syracuse after having his contract outrighted by the Washington Nationals on April 3...Collected a season-high four hits on April 9 versus Rochester -- matched the high with four hits on May 1 at Charlotte, August 3 at Norfolk and August 14 versus Rochester...Belted a season-best two home runs on July 6 versus Lehigh Valley...Hit .308 (32-for-104) in 30 games during August...Saw action with Aguilas in the Dominican Winter League following the season, batting .322 (28-for-87) with 12 runs scored, three doubles, a home run and six RBI in 25 games.

Split the 2008 season between Washington and Triple A Columbus -- saw action in a career-high 66 games during his three stints with the Nationals...Opened the season with Columbus, seeing action in seven games before he was sidelined April 10-May 18 with a right wrist hamate fracture...Tabbed the International League Player of the Week for May 19-25 after hitting .500 (12-for-24) with three doubles, two home runs and 10 RBI in six games...Recalled from Columbus by Washington on June 3...Established a career high with three hits in the second game of a doubleheader on June 5 versus St. Louis -- matched the high with three hits on September 5 at Atlanta...Belted his first major league home run on June 15 at Seattle, a three-run shot as a pinch-hitter off Mark Lowe in the eighth inning -- established a career best with three RBI...Optioned to Columbus by the Nationals on July 3 -- saw action in one game with Columbus before he was recalled by the Nationals on July 8...Optioned back to Columbus by Washington on August 19 -- recalled by the Nationals for the remainder of the season on September 1.

Hit .130 in 16 games during first exposure to the big leagues...was not a member of the Nationals' Opening Day roster, but was recalled for the 2nd game of the season as Nook Logan came down with an injury...enjoyed 2 stints with Washington...made 12 starts (11 in LF and one at 1B)...in MLB debut, April 3 vs. FLA, went 1-for-4 with a walk...first big-league hit was a 4th-inning lead-off single off Scott Olsen...was optioned to Columbus on April 18 but returned less than 2 weeks later...was hitless in final 15 at-bats with Washington...had a strong Spring Training campaign, batting . 271 with 5 RBI, 7 walks and a .364 on-base percentage in 21 games. Game-By-Game Highlights: First big league RBI, April 30 at SDP, came via a 7th-inning double that provided the decisive run in Washington's 3-2 win. In minor leagues: In first Triple-A campaign, batted .246 with 20 doubles, 11 homers and 55 RBI in 114 games with Columbus...hit .324 (12-for-37) with 4 homers in 10 games between his 2 big league stints, and .238 (89-for-374) in 104 games the rest of the way...started 58 games at 3B, 46 in LF, 5 as the DH and one at 1B...strung together a 10-game hitting streak May 29-June 8...batted .395 (15-for-38) with 4 doubles, 4 homers, 9 RBI and scored 11 runs during the 10-game run.

Did nothing to lose luster as the Nationals' top prospect among position players...playing for Harrisburg of the Double-A Eastern League, hit .272 with 20 home runs and 80 RBI in first exposure above Single-A level and was again named Nationals Minor League Player of the Year...began season at 3B, but begining July 1, shifted to LF...was named EL Rookie of the Year in a poll of league managers, coaches, writers and radio/TVbroadcasters...following season, was rated by

Batted .290 with 22 home runs, 90 RBIs and a .394 on-base percentage for the Class A Potomac Nationals and was named the Nationals' Minor League Player of the Year. ...
