In 63 Major League appearances, including two starts, has posted a 3.74 ERA (31ER/74.2IP) with Colorado (2007-08) and Houston (2008-09) combined...as a reliever, has gone 3-1 with a 3.90 ERA (29ER/67IP) in 61 career appearances ... Owns a 35-32 record with a 3.96 ERA (258ER/586IP) over 214 minor league games, including 65 starts, throughout his career ... Appeared in 22 straight games without allowing an earned run from May 21-July 24, 2009...the streak tied for the fourth-longest in Astros franchise history...during that time frame, tossed a career-high 21.1 consecutive scoreless innings over 17 appearances, which ranked as the fifthlongest in the National League in 2009 and the second-longest streak by an NL reliever ... Won his first Major League start on Sept. 8, 2008 vs. PIT by tossing 5.0 scoreless innings and striking out a career-high six batters ... Made his Major League debut on May 1, 2007 at SF and earned the win after tossing 3.2 scoreless innings for the Rockies... became the eighth Rockie pitcher to earn a victory in his ML debut ... Missed all of 2010 after undergoing right shoulder surgery on April 22 at The Methodist Hospital in Houston, performed by Dr. David Lintner...appeared in three Spring Training games for Houston, allowing two runs over 2.1 innings, before being placed on the 15-day Disabled List on March 26.
2009
Went 2-1 with a 3.35 ERA (17ER/45.2IP) in 42 relief appearances for Houston...stranded 17 of 19 inherited runners...spent two stints with the Major League club from April 15-18 and May 6 through the remainder of the season...while with Triple A Round Rock, went 2-2 with a 3.86 ERA (7ER/16.1IP) in four games, three starts...did not make the club out of Spring Training, despite posting a 1-0 record and 0.00 ERA (0ER/10.1IP) in seven relief appearances...was the second call-up by Houston in 2009, behind only RHP Jeff Fulchino...after his recall, went 2-0 with a 1.57 ERA (5ER/28.2IP) prior to the All-Star Break...after the All-Star Break, went 0-1 with a 6.35 ERA (12ER/17IP)...tossed a career-high 21.1 consecutive scoreless innings over 17 appearances from May 27-July 19...the streak ranked as the fifth-longest in the National League this season and the longest by an Astro...it was also the second-longest streak by an NL reliever this season...was the longest scoreless innings streak by an Astros reliever since Brad Lidge also tossed 21.1 scoreless innings from Sept. 14, 2004-April 19, 2005...went 22 straight appearances without allowing an earned run from May 21-July 24...lowered his ERA from 5.87 to 1.34 over that time span...the streak tied for the fourth-longest in franchise history...the last Astro to go at least 22 appearances without allowing an earned run was LaTroy Hawkins, who also went 22 straight from Aug. 2-Sept. 24, 2008...after the streak, allowed runs in seven of his last 12 appearances before being placed on the Disabled List for the first time in his career on Aug. 28 with a right hamstring strain...finished the season on the DL...underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on Sept. 23... during the procedure, had small bone fragments from the back of his knee removed, which had been irritating a tendon.
2008
Went 1-1 with a 4.15 ERA (10ER/21.2IP) in 15 appearances (two starts) with Houston and Colorado...made three appearances (two starts) with Houston and went 1-1 with a 6.75 ERA (6ER/8IP)...made eight appearances (three starts) for Triple A Round Rock and went 1-0 with a 1.52 ERA (4ER/23.2IP)...won his Astros debut on Sept. 8 vs. PIT... tossed 5.0 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and three walks...marked his second Major League decision (both wins)...posted career highs on Sept. 8 in innings pitched (5.0) and strikeouts (6)...became the first Astro to record six-or-more strikeouts in their first Major League start since Wandy Rodriguez recorded six strikeouts in his MLB debut on May 23, 2005 at CHI (NL)...also became the first Astro to pitch 5.0-or-more scoreless innings in their first Major League start since Chris Sampson tossed 7.0 scoreless innings against the Cubs on June 7, 2006...suffered the first loss of his Major League career on Sept. 18 at FLA...went 2.2 innings, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks (ties career high)...appeared in 12 games for the Rockies in 2008, posting a 2.63 ERA (4ER/13.2IP) from May 7-June 2...pitched in 30 games in relief for Triple A Colorado Springs and went 3-4 with a 4.73 ERA (24ER/45.2IP) and 41 strikeouts in 45.2 innings pitched.
2007
Made his Major League debut for Colorado in early May appearing in just six games for the Rockies, all in relief...went 1-0 with a 4.91 ERA (7.1 ip, 4 er) in those outings...had his contract purchased from Triple-A Colorado Springs on April 29 and made his debut on May 1, earning the victory after tossing 3.2 shutout innings, while allowing just one hit...became just the eighth Rockies pitcher to win his ML debut, just the third pitcher to do so in relief (also Ryan Speier - 4/4/05 vs. SD - and Marcus Moore - 7/9/93 at StL)...combined to toss 4.0 scoreless innings over his first two outings, but then allowed one run in each of his next four games and was optioned to Triple-A on May 14...overall with the Sky Sox, Arias went 2-2 with a 3.76 ERA (26.1 ip, 11 er) in 10 games/three starts in his first career season at the Triple-A level...allowed just three earned runs over his first 21.0 innings pitched (1.29 ERA), covering eight games, but surrendered eight earned runs over 5.1 innings in his next two contests to rise from 1.29 to 3.76...was placed on the disabled list from June 5-Aug. 18 with right shoulder inflammation and was released from the roster on Aug. 27...signed a Minor League contract with the Rockies on Sept. 21.
2001
Made his pro debut at age 17 with the Rockies in the Dominican Summer League...logged 2-0 record with 2.73 ERA (26.1 ip, 8 er) and 23 strikeouts in six games/3 starts.
2002
Spent his second consecutive season with Rockies DSL squad...posted 1-1 record with an 0.48 ERA (37.1 ip, 2 er) in 31 games.
2003
Ranked tenth among Pioneer League qualifiers with a 3.58 ERA.
2006
Made his Double-A debut, going 8-6, 4.35 in 49 games/nine starts for Tulsa...went 3-3, 5.26 (39.1 ip, 23 er) in nine starts and 5-3, 3.86 (72.1 ip, 31 er) in 40 relief appearances...held the opposition to a .245 (102-for-416) average...right-handers hit just .217...over eight outings, all in relief, from May 24-June 12, compiled an 0.68 ERA (13.1 ip, 1 er)...tossed 5.0 innings or less in each of his 9 starts and pitched more than 1.0 frame in 26 of 40 relief outings...earned wins in back-to-back starts April 30 vs. Frisco and May 4 at Frisco...posted a 3.40 ERA (51.0 ip, 19 er) over first 24 contests, but a 5.19 figure (60.2 ip, 35 er) over final 25 games to finish at 4.35...most of his relief innings came in the sixth and seventh frames...participated in Rockies instructional league after the season...also pitched for Licey in Dominican Winter League, going 1-1 with a 2.51 ERA (14.1 ip, 4 er) and one save in 11 relief outings...opponents hit just .222 (12-for-54).
2005
Went 3-1, 3.60 (60.0 ip, 24 er) with two saves in 30 relief appearances for Modesto, his High-A debut...had a pair of lengthy scoreless stretches, 18.2 innings over seven games from June 3-July 6, and 16.2 scoreless frames over final 5 regular season outings from Aug. 18-Sept. 4...went 3-1, 3.60 (60.0 ip, 24 er) in his 30 relief outings and 1-3, 5.87 (30.2 ip, 20 er) over seven starts...never made more than two starts in a row, and did that just once...lefties hit .268 (40-for-149)...pitched season-high 4.0 innings of relief on June 20 vs. High Desert...tossed 3.0 shutout relief innings with four strikeouts in the playoffs.
2004
Led the South Atlantic League and tied for the overall minor league lead with four complete games...went 8-9, 5.00 in 26 games/24 starts in lone season at Asheville...allowed 23 home runs, second-most in circuit...hurled back-to-back complete games, April 27-May 3...tossed a 1-0 shutout on Aug. 17 vs. Lakewood, allowing six hits over 6.0 innings.
