Alfredo Jose Pedrique
**Coaching Career** The 2010 season was Al Pedrique's first as the Astros bench coach and his eighth overall with the organization. After beginning the 2009 season as Houston's minor league field coordinator, Pedrique was named the Astros third base coach for the big league club in September after Dave Clark was named interim manager. Pedrique's current stint in Houston's organization began Nov. 11, 2004 when he was named as a special assistant to the general manager, a position he held for three seasons (2005-07). In October of 2006, his duties were expanded to include responsibility for all of the club's Latin American operations, including the overseeing of the franchise's academies as well as the player development and scouting efforts. Prior to joining the Astros, Pedrique spent the second half of the 2004 season as interim manager of the Arizona Diamondbacks after beginning the season as their third-base coach. Prior to what was his first Major League coaching position, Pedrique had spent nine seasons as a minor league manager (1995-2003), compiling a 463-433 (.517) overall record. Pedrique spent two seasons (1999-2000) as manager of the Astros then-Class A affiliate in Michigan, capturing the Midwest League title in 2000. Pedrique also managed the 2002 Scottsdale Scorpions in the Arizona Fall League and served as a coach for the World Team in the 2003 MLB All-Star Futures Game. **Playing Career** Pedrique played 174 games in his Major League career over parts of three seasons (1987-89) primarily as an infielder for the Mets, Pirates and Tigers. He compiled a .247 career average with one home run, 18 doubles and 36 RBI. In the minors, he led Texas League shortstops in fielding percentage in 1983-84 at Jackson and was an International League All-Star in 1985 at Triple A Tidewater. **Personal** Pedrique has two daughters, Mariana and Liliana. He and his wife Marla reside in Tucson, AZ.
