Led the Red Sox with a career-high 152 games played. Also set career highs in hits (166), RBI (74), doubles (39), XBH (51) and total bases (240). Ranked second on the Red Sox in hits and RBI, as well as third in AVG (.280), doubles and total bases. Ranked second in the Majors in games started in the OF (149, first in AL) and innings played in the OF (1,306.0). Made 52 of his final 53 starts in RF, after playing only LF in his first 97 games (see box above). His eight OF assists tied for the team lead (also Pham). Made the Dodgers' Opening Day roster and appeared in 106 of the club's 114 games through 8/4. After going 0-for-1 on Opening Day (3/28 vs. ARI), finished each day from 3/29-6/7 hitting at least .300. Recorded his 1st career game-ending RBI with a sacrifice fly in the 9th inning on 5/29 vs. NYM. In an 18-game stretch from 6/11-29, hit .370 (27-for-73) with 5 HR and a 1.049 OPS. On 6/22 vs. COL, recorded his 1st career multi-homer game (2 HR), his 1st career walk-off HR, and his 1st career extra-inning HR, breaking a 4-4 tie in the 11th inning. From 6/27-29 at COL, went 7-for-14 with 2 HR. From 7/12-14, went 4-for-9 with a HR at Fenway Park...On 7/14, delivered an RBI single in the 12th inning of a 7-4 win over BOS.Placed on the injured list on 8/5 with a right oblique strain and missed the remainder of the season.
Appeared in 1 rehab game with Rookie-level Ogden on 9/2, but he returned to LAD's spring training complex in Arizona due to back stiffness.
