Full name is Buck Coats...he and his wife, April, have a son, Hayden...Graduated from Valdosta (Ga.) High in 2000.

2009

Spent the entire season with Las Vegas (AAA) in the Blue Jays organization, batting .302, the second time in his career he's topped the .300 mark in a season...Left the 51s early to join Team USA in the Baseball World Cup in September...the gold-medal winning U.S. squad was managed by current Royals' first-base coach Eddie Rodriguez...served as the primary leadoff man and center fielder.

2008

Broke camp with the Toronto Blue Jays out of Spring Training... Appeared in eight games for Toronto, including one start on Apr. 11 vs. TEX (left field)... Went 1-for-3 in that contest... Was optioned to Syracuse (AAA) on the very next day (Apr. 12)... Spent the remainder of the season with the Chiefs, appearing in 114 games... Batted .286 with seven home runs & 44 RBI while stealing 14 bases... His five triples led the Club... Was named Minor League Star of the Month for July, batting .284 (25-88) with one home run & seven RBI in 23 games... Had a season high 11 game hit streak from May 14-25 & batted .326 (14-43) over that span while scoring nine runs...Batted .333 (71-213) in 55 games at home this season.

2007

Began the season with the Cubs' Class AAA affiliate at Iowa and hit .303 in 123 games...Was traded to the Reds on Aug. 30 in exchange for a player to be named later (RHP Marcus Mateo)...Immediately after the trade was optioned to Louisville, where in four games hit .438...Was promoted to Cincinnati after the Bats' season ended...IN THE MAJORS: For the Reds made 20 appearances, including four starts (two in LF, one in CF, one in RF)...On Sept. 21 at SF was credited with another start (CF) after Norris Hopper was ejected following his plate appearance in the top of the first inning...In that contest produced his first career two-hit game (2-3)...Had another two-hit game on Sept. 26 vs. HOU...In a 4-0 loss on Sept. 29 vs. CHC recorded the Reds' only hit, a two-out double in the sixth inning off Rich Hill...MINOR MATTERS: For Iowa from June 23-July 14 put together a 19-game hitting streak, tied for the fourth-longest of the season in the Pacific Coast League...From June 15-July 15 reached base safely in 27 straight games (.364), tied for the 13th-longest streak in the PCL.

2006

Spent most of the season at Class AAA Iowa...Had his contract selected by the Cubs in August and spent the rest of the season with the Major League Club...Made his Major League debut as a pinch hitter on Aug. 22 vs. PHI...On Sept. 12 vs. LAD recorded his first career hit, a pinch-hit single off Derek Lowe...On Sept. 24 at CIN made his first career start (RF) and enjoyed his first career home run (off Aaron Harang)...Appeared in 124 games with Iowa (AAA), hitting .282 with 21 doubles, seven home runs and 51 RBI...Played all three outfield positions.

2005

In his first season at Class AA was a Southern League All-Star after hitting .282 in 127games at West Tenn...Established a career best with 32 doubles...Recorded 32 multi-hit efforts including one four hit and one five hit contest...Following the season hit .256 in 12 apps for Mesa in the prestigious Arizona Fall League.

2004

At Daytona (A) hit .290 with a career-high eight homers along with 22 doubles and four triples...Had three nine game hit streaks...Batted .301 with 16 doubles and 27 RBI on the road.

2003

At Lansing (A) was a Midwest League mid-season All-Star...Batted .277 with 33 extra base hits along with knocking in 59 RBI in 132 games...Had 38 multi-hit games including a pair of four-hit games.

2002

Spent the entire season at Lansing (A), batting .257 with 21 doubles and 47 RBI for the Lugnuts.

2001

Batted .260 with one home run and 18 RBI in his 2nd professional season both with Mesa (R).

2000

Made his professional debut at Mesa...Batted .296 with six doubles, three triples and 14 RBI in 30 games.
